There's a shrine with a fuck ton of deer
If you've ever seen videos of deer "bowing" in Japan, it's there (correct me if I'm wrong)
tfw not rich like bunkerbro to buy myself an island (that isn't claimed by china) somewhere in the pacific
i miss the tempura don
okonomiyaki and takoyaki are my fucking jam
i literally dream of takoyaki
I didn't get to try okonomiyaki while there and I will kick myself for it until I go back
so good
there's decent okonomiyaki and takoyaki in NYC but.... tempura man....
missing
somehow.
anyone can make a passable okonomiyaki (it's kinda in the name too)
tfw jianbing in the morning
give me 5 of those, senpai
i had one this morning because we talked about it the other day
does your part of china do yiaotiao and soy milk
Also Jignx, Japan loves to have specialties. Every city has a signature dish, mascot, etc.
Osaka is takoyaki i think? Since that's your first stop, consider trying it
You'll definitely find it on dotonbori
that's another thing that only old chinese elders can make effectively
yeah they do big time, byte
such gud
you probably are used to it but damn man
@kaetaa I'm gonna make some noodles tomorrow, I think. Dunno if this city still has a Chinese restaurant, and I'm a bit autistic about cooking and baking
try the okonomiyaki in each city, jignx. its different everywhere
fuck yeah, tom. hot dry noodle attempt?
i've never had the super thin panckae okonomiyaki
anime
Yeah, I've googled some recipes and I'm going grocery shopping later
where u
making noodles is pretty boss
kaetaa, is there a chinese food you'd recommend trying if someone gets the chance?
There aren't any restaurants where I'm at, but out of town there definitely are
ruu: region matters
hmm. well chinese food and western chinese food are totally different. so, if yo usee some authentic chinese food, id have to say to try soup dumplings. They are like little steamed buns with meat inside and a little soup. so you suck the soup out, and then eat the meat with vinegar
What I absolutely love about Asia (I only visited Chinkapore, though) are the affordable restaurants and great street food, which makes sense since people don't cook that much at home (in Chinkapore you usually work till late)
if you're ever in fujian you should try their noodle broths
and fish balls
Tom, you better take loads of pics when youre cooking
and fried oyster cakes
O-ok, senpai
s-s--ssugoi
here is a notepad i made a few weeks ago on a whim to remind myself of stuff to do in tokyo
byte: yeah, I know region makes a huge difference, but I think if I tried hard enough I could find anything in LA
And that sounds really good kaetaa, I'll have to try it one day
yeah; "cafeteria" and greasy spoon type places used to be prevalent in the west when people actually worked for a living but they fell out of favor for expensive restaurants
sucks
Fish balls are good
dude you can find anything in LA.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BM1CeDQD21q/ @kaetaa omelette I made for bfast yday (bacon, Dalmatian prosciutto, Italian cheese, mushrooms)
R u in LA
Right outside
I'm on the border between LA and Ventura county
~40min to downtown
@someoneunknown looks delicious tbh fam. eggs are my weakness
whats namja town
Ninja yown
It's a Namco (i think) indoor mini amusement center thing
my jap friend and i in an izikaya after not seeing him for 5 years
@Riley W : this place looks legit https://www.yelp.com/biz/qin-west-chinese-cuisine-los-angeles
My gf saw it online before we went and put it on the to do list. Supposedly had giant gyoza and a lot of types or something
is it that bad
In the end it was really expensive for small portions, closer to a chuck e cheese than amusement park
the worst part about going to chinese places is the language barrier for the actual good food
If they said the gyoza was bagged but fried well I would believe it
helps to go with a friend who can speak the language
get a chink
Yea
china town in houston was tough. went to a restauraunt and literally no one spoke english
picked shit at random
@shadowedROM Jesus that looks good
srsly i wouldn't mind putting up with LA traffic for a week or two to explore
the food scene there is great
This is making me hungry
NYC-manhattan is kinda dying as far as legit cuisine is concerned
rents pricing everyone legit out, replacing them with fufu haute cuisine or hipstery bullshit
thank jeebus for queens-flushing
Hah yea
Flushing is great
Do you also get dumb food trends in NY like tater tots, hot cheetos crumbled on shit and expensive popsicles?
yea some
expensive mini donuts
expensive empanadas
Forgot macaroni
some of it is tourist shite and another bit of it is uninformed yuppie crap
yeah fried macaroni or truffle infused macaroni
dressed up kid's cuisine
"Designer Corn Dogs"
disgusting
sorry if food snob of me to say so
one of the gardens at asakusa
I refer to half the shit I eat as disgusting
Are u in NY byte
