M-Muh Titanium!

2019-06-18 01:56:22 UTC

anyway scalpels outside of keychain form factors are pure cringe

2019-06-18 01:56:29 UTC

unless you're literally a surgeon

2019-06-18 01:56:38 UTC

then you use the green plastic ones the hospital probably gives you

2019-06-18 01:57:54 UTC

Gf uses a Havalon Piranta, since she does precision cuts on paper very frequently

2019-06-18 01:59:46 UTC

i'm more referring to actual knives that have scalpel blade shape and size with irreplaceable blades

2019-06-18 02:01:22 UTC

*Fighting Scalpel*

2019-06-18 02:02:40 UTC

I am filled with disgust.

2019-06-18 03:52:29 UTC

@Matthew What kinda blades does that little box cutter use?

2019-06-18 03:53:40 UTC

And @Sapharanth I forgot about these, decent little snips.

@timsandtoms i got those, but metal. Good for sculpting Chad in my pubic hair

2019-06-18 09:13:19 UTC

Anyone have dashcam recommendations

2019-06-18 09:13:41 UTC

Preferably has wifi/BT and battery

2019-06-18 09:14:04 UTC

why would your dashcam need BT ?

2019-06-18 09:14:31 UTC

Idfk my dad asked me for dashcam recommendations and thatโ€™s what he wanted for some reason

2019-06-18 09:16:25 UTC

normal top recomendation is rexing V1 from me

2019-06-18 09:16:31 UTC

but that does not have any wireless iirc

2019-06-18 09:16:48 UTC

nor does KDlinks X1

2019-06-18 09:16:56 UTC

a battery in a dashcam will degrade very fast as it is
1) being constantly charged and
2) if you live in an environment where it gets hot, it will die much faster (expect less than a year of regular battery life, after that you'll notice it take a hard dive)

2019-06-18 09:18:06 UTC

How much battery does a dashcam need though? I guess it depends on if you want one that always watches your car, or just while driving. While driving you'd really only need a short time, just from impact killing power to the end of the interesting shit.

2019-06-18 09:18:08 UTC

I would recommend the VIOFO A129 because I have the A119 and I love it to hell and back, but it IS in the pricier side

2019-06-18 09:18:16 UTC

like 110 USD

2019-06-18 09:18:30 UTC

even more if you want the rear camera too

2019-06-18 09:18:30 UTC

Yeah he just wants it to not depend on the car being on to record

2019-06-18 09:18:49 UTC

Iโ€™ll keep in mind degradation though, thanks

2019-06-18 09:18:52 UTC

well even with a battery you're looking at 20 minutes of recording max, when not charging

2019-06-18 09:19:06 UTC

it's better to get a hardwire kit and spend an evening setting it up in your car

2019-06-18 09:19:50 UTC

so it's always plugged in to your fuse box (car battery) and many dashcams nowadays can do "parking mode" where they essentially use less power by taking a photo every few seconds instead of recording one long video

2019-06-18 09:20:09 UTC

for wifi part if its for auto-backup to cloud it only works when you happen to be very near your car with your wifi

2019-06-18 09:20:12 UTC

@๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ https://dashcamtalk.com/ required reading

very good resource for camera stuff

2019-06-18 09:20:14 UTC

or its on your driveway

2019-06-18 09:20:35 UTC

@Tervy wait, are there dashcams that do auto-cloud backup? damn

2019-06-18 09:20:45 UTC

yep they exist

2019-06-18 09:20:51 UTC

Yeah Iโ€™m assuming thatโ€™s why he wants botnet dashcam

2019-06-18 09:20:52 UTC

I bet it's the super expensive ones

2019-06-18 09:20:55 UTC

incase the thief niggers the cam itself :P

2019-06-18 09:21:08 UTC

Thanks for link

2019-06-18 09:21:26 UTC

@Tervy inb4 it's blackvue cameras that do this

2019-06-18 09:21:49 UTC

i cant remember from top of my head

2019-06-18 09:21:52 UTC

@๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ they also have forums with lots of additional info

2019-06-18 09:21:54 UTC

i know there is stuff what uses wifi for it

2019-06-18 09:22:35 UTC

i dont understand why companies dont tie simple sim-setup to them

2019-06-18 09:22:39 UTC

I'm really looking for an excuse to pick up a VIOFO A129 lmao

2019-06-18 09:22:39 UTC

they take no space nor power at all

2019-06-18 09:22:51 UTC

my A119 works just fine buuuuuuut

2019-06-18 09:22:55 UTC

That is a good idea

2019-06-18 09:22:56 UTC

and can be securely used to save stuff via 3G etc

2019-06-18 09:23:22 UTC

you'd be looking at a 300 usd dashcam with features like that imo

2019-06-18 09:23:22 UTC

@Cole :your excuse : you dont have one and you need one

2019-06-18 09:23:40 UTC

yeah but I also don't need a new dashcam <:alismirk:230784726615588865>

2019-06-18 09:23:46 UTC

I mean I only want it for the wifi really

2019-06-18 09:23:51 UTC

nobody should drive without dashcam these days tbh (if laws allow)

2019-06-18 09:23:57 UTC

I'm not

2019-06-18 09:24:16 UTC

I use a VIOFO A119 in my car and Xiaomi Dashcam for work vehicles

2019-06-18 09:24:39 UTC

Is the xiaomeme dashcam any good

2019-06-18 09:25:10 UTC

its decent for price

2019-06-18 09:25:13 UTC

I have this one and it's rather blurry tbh

2019-06-18 09:25:15 UTC

nothing world breaking

2019-06-18 09:25:31 UTC

but it has wifi and a suction cup so i can easily take if off from work cars

2019-06-18 09:25:53 UTC

I did have to mess with some IP addresses and codes to change video recording length though

2019-06-18 09:25:57 UTC

you can't do that by default

2019-06-18 09:26:02 UTC

in the camera settings or in the app

2019-06-18 09:27:59 UTC

Very nice

and that's you folks

2019-06-18 11:23:19 UTC

I have a K171 AKG headphone, truly God tier

2019-06-18 11:23:27 UTC

But the non-AKG cords broke literally every month

2019-06-18 11:23:35 UTC

Is buying from chinkland worth it in comparasion with Amazon?

2019-06-18 11:23:37 UTC

@onoderaSecurity experiment with different tablet areas, grips, try dragging and hovering too
and if you like something stick with it

2019-06-18 11:27:56 UTC

all cables break eventually but if they only last you a month you might be stepping on them, twisting them etc.

2019-06-18 11:29:22 UTC

Yes

2019-06-18 12:10:54 UTC

how bad are stock drivers? thinking for a gift

2019-06-18 12:18:33 UTC

What brand should I get if Iโ€™m buying a Chink SSD?

2019-06-18 12:40:29 UTC

Kingdian s280 but check locally first

2019-06-18 12:41:49 UTC

ssds are so cheap these days i dont think chinks are worth anymore

2019-06-18 12:47:33 UTC

Does Adata qualifies as a chink brand for SSD? I'm hesitating between the 'top' ADATA SX8200 Pro and the Samsung 970 Evo Plus. According to UserBenchmark they are about the same on average but Adata is way better at sustain write/read while the Samsung is better (though sometimes slightly) on everything else. https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Samsung-970-Evo-Plus-NVMe-PCIe-M2-500GB-vs-Adata-XPG-SX8200-Pro-NVMe-PCIe-M2-1TB/m700020vsm638791

2019-06-18 12:47:46 UTC

userbenchmark is a meme

2019-06-18 12:47:50 UTC

^

2019-06-18 12:47:53 UTC

don't use userbenchmark

2019-06-18 12:47:58 UTC

(but I can also buy 1TB Adata for almost the price of 500 GB Evo Plus)

2019-06-18 12:48:02 UTC

What should I use then?

2019-06-18 12:48:23 UTC

reviews? from review websites? like andandtech, tom's hardware, etc

2019-06-18 12:48:44 UTC

ADATA is just a regular company

2019-06-18 12:48:48 UTC

Yeah but was asking more like 'which one would be reliable'

2019-06-18 12:48:52 UTC

Shit you can buy ADATA in stores

2019-06-18 12:48:53 UTC

also you don't need samsung evo performance if you're here asking us about it

2019-06-18 12:48:57 UTC

Thatโ€™s the opposite of Chink shit

2019-06-18 12:48:58 UTC

Or is it just 'avoid Userbenchmark, every other is valid'?

2019-06-18 12:49:07 UTC

UBM is a massive unreliable meme

2019-06-18 12:49:13 UTC

Even reddit mocks it

2019-06-18 12:49:15 UTC

avoid anything that didn't do repeatable tests

2019-06-18 12:49:31 UTC

tho reddit mocking something does not make it all that true

2019-06-18 12:50:26 UTC

samsung drives are super reliable, but chances are you will die before you completely write to one and break it. while I can't speak for su800, i imagine by the time you reach the end of its lifecycle it'll be like 2040

2019-06-18 12:50:27 UTC

Also I need a samsung evo performance because I have a small dick

2019-06-18 12:50:46 UTC

if you wanted samsung evo performance then just buy nvme

2019-06-18 12:50:55 UTC

SX8200 is nvme

2019-06-18 12:51:22 UTC

Adata claims to be on par with Samsong top nvme SSDs

2019-06-18 12:51:26 UTC

With this one

2019-06-18 12:51:32 UTC

samsung evo is pretty bad value, i guess they just kinda went off the deep end and didn't bother to match the market price

2019-06-18 12:51:42 UTC

also quickly checking their https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Faq/What-is-the-effective-SSD-speed-index/42 does not bring any larger "WHY"s on at least from me

2019-06-18 12:52:08 UTC

you're not going to notice a difference between sata and nvme ssd's as a home user, _unless_ you're copying sequential files very often

2019-06-18 12:52:51 UTC

the only use case i can think of with nvme is if you're a content creator and work with very large source files often

2019-06-18 12:53:05 UTC

I do but not that often

2019-06-18 12:53:16 UTC

Hence why I'm tending to think of the more 'budget friendly' adata

2019-06-18 12:53:33 UTC

It's not like everyday, but once every week or more

2019-06-18 12:53:40 UTC

and when i mean "very large source files" i mean like you just pulled off some 8k footage from your $12k RED camera that has ssds for storage

2019-06-18 12:54:01 UTC

not like your ~4gb frag video that you record using OBS

2019-06-18 12:54:17 UTC

I was thinking more along the lines of 10s/100s GB

2019-06-18 12:55:06 UTC

eh that still doesn't sound demanding enough to use a nvme drive with

2019-06-18 12:55:31 UTC

i work with 2-20s gb of video files and those are on hard drives

2019-06-18 12:56:37 UTC

True, but then again, it's not like this 'premium' is gonna cost me that much anyway

2019-06-18 12:58:05 UTC

and you dont have any reason not to have that speed there incase you need it

2019-06-18 12:58:12 UTC

specialy if the price is same

2019-06-18 12:58:18 UTC

and you have free slots etc

2019-06-18 12:58:29 UTC

From where I live I can get and SX8200 Pro 1TB for 170 deutschmarks, on the other hand a normal 1TB Sata SSD will cost me around 100 deutschmarks

2019-06-18 12:59:08 UTC

that sounds like a premium of 70 hitlerdollars to me

2019-06-18 12:59:29 UTC

Sure is, but remember that I have a small dick

2019-06-18 13:00:36 UTC

For this price tho the SSD is gonna be quite low end, being only TLC and barely reaching SATA 3 top speed

2019-06-18 13:01:53 UTC

i went to check buildapcsaleseurope for nvme deals and the last post was 5 months ago

2019-06-18 13:02:12 UTC

aka from what i understand you're fucked

2019-06-18 13:03:01 UTC

there's always good deals popping up here in the states for storage, especially recently with ssd prices going way down

2019-06-18 13:03:16 UTC

a month ago su800 was ~$95/1TB, now ive seen it at $90

2019-06-18 13:03:28 UTC

Well rn there's a truckload of deals on SSDs

2019-06-18 13:03:33 UTC

And my main SSD is kinda dying rn

2019-06-18 13:06:10 UTC

(I meant to say in my area of course)

2019-06-18 13:08:29 UTC

you can look at this, i think it is pretty up-to-date, but you'd have to check prices manually

2019-06-18 13:11:45 UTC

Thanks

2019-06-18 13:59:30 UTC

@Mereck ADATA is a reputable brand
