I would argue that Westward Expansion is what caused America to develop its unique identity, whereas before it was Anglos without monarchy

That should be our fallback if we fail to defend "American, " and it's great, because it's racially unambiguous, clearly Germanic (even those of us who aren't ethnically Germanic are culturally such), and it would also draw an obvious Afrikaner association.
