Don't know what to do with your life? Talk about it
i think i might start using /sig/
I like going into those threads cause they're /comfy/
I've been pleasantly surprised by the /sig/ threads, I'm enjoying the changing direction of /pol/ in general too
i'm going to compile a checklist for myself soon
I'm part of a /sig/ server on Discord
It's my book club
toss an invite
Yee
Same for me
once i get my paycheck
i'm gonna go out
and buy some farming tools and seeds
and try to grow myself some plants in my backyard
I reccomend green beans
Pretty strong plants
nice
are you growing stuff right now
No, nothing in season
I'm in New England so I cant grow anything important rn
@ram3n Depending upon what you want to grow, you can also buy items from produce sections in stores and use the seeds within to grow more. Some seed stores tend to over price what they got, so that might save you some money too
also i forgot that i'm nearing fall/winter
so i'll wait until next year to start planting
in the meantime i'll find other things to do
Yeah, there is always cleaning up /maintenance, things like cooking to learn/do too
lifting samdbags
sandbags*
Are you expecting heavy rain and possible flooding?
If you want to start growing things, but you're limited in space and your local climate/soil isn't suitable, check out indoor growing tents
Oshion 2x2x4 Feet Small Indoor Mylar Hydroponics Grow Tent Room (24"x 24"x 48") https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GCJ66NM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_2pTWzbP4JR8DM
I'm considering getting a larger one so I can grow some vegetables during the winter
i have my backyard to use for growing things
but i do need to clear out an old swing set + maybe flatten it
growing things is so comfy
too bad im stuck in an apartment
You can get one of those Topsy Turvey things
Right?
i feel like that's just a scam
I've read a bit about them
People are pretty happy about them
You can make a DIY version too so
For the NEETs among us, start this ASAP. Maybe the single most valuable course I've even gone through. It will help you understand yourself and those around you. Extremely helpful in particular if you suffer social anxiety or depresson. Watch one video a day and give yourself about 20 mins after each session to think and intregrate what you learned. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL22J3VaeABQAT-0aSPq-OKOpQlHyR4k5h
If you have any questions, or just want to talk, you are welcome to PM me.
^seconded, it's a must watch
Check out the kratky hydroponic method. It's almost completely hands-off and can grow vegs indoors year round. Here's some lettuce I'm growing now.
Thats awesome! How often are our able to harvest it?
This summer I did my first bit of farming, just a patch of 1x2 meters, but it taught me tons ๐
nice
For instance - peas will conquer everyfuckingthing, peas took over everything, even other peas.
you'll have to give me some tips for a first time farmer next spring lol
When I was clearing it out a week ago there were like twice the "surface" amount of peas beneath, that were almost dead etc lol
For sure! ๐
First: *Don't put things too close to one another*
I don't know about second ๐ค
feces could be used as fertilizer, right?
because of the nitrates?
Surely ๐
Be careful about using human feces. Most feces is fine, as contamination would require diseases crossing a species barrier. Human feces doesn't have that advantage, so it can spread disease pretty quickly
I didn't do that though, I live close to others lol
*Like the rest of my family, and the neighbours*
Well, *shit* ๐
speaking of witch, this is a <#359504430569095168> conversation
Oh, I even hesitated before bringing it up in here ๐
so today i decided to begin a small exercise regimen which i hope to expand upon in the future
and i'm going to dedicate myself to doing better in school
studying, homework, etc
as i've realized that i need to be in relatively good shape if i'm going to contribute to our community
good ^
Heck yes my dude
i'm also on a mission of nofap
cutting it down
by
a lot
Be careful.
Some dudes can't handle it.
Get overly aggressive, irrational, irritible.
yeah
but then again how else are you gonna break the habit
it's just an addiction to the release of dopamine, similar to drugs
and addictions are p bad
Control yourself, just like any other drug.
Once a week, max.
i'm gone down from every night to twice a week
though starting next week i'm cutting down to once
That's good, make sure you are talking to a girl everyday. Even just small talk/bullshitting. Doesn't even have to be one you find attractive.
yeah
already doing that lol
A good hobby helps keep your mind off it also
yeah
i'm gonna go into bushcraft/woodworking soon
camping
all kinds of outside stuff
Use your increased testosterone to develop a competitive mindset, start competing silently in everything you do.
mhm
because vitamin d + chopping wood does increase your testosterone right
Any physical activity I believe, >nofapping as well.
perfect
yeah i've spent way too many years inside on the computer
i'm pale as shit
Or at very least >nofapping makes you feel more verile and aggressive.
too skinny
You gotta want it man. Don't let yourself make excuses.
i *want* this
i *want* a better life for myself
and for the white race
some pale and skinny af kid with no muscle isn't gonna help much in the settlement
Well, it sounds like you know how to get it.
It's the execution that matters.
yes
That's where people fall off.
Temptation.
yes
i'm fallen to that quite a few times
Eat enough protein too
Falling off is okay, everyone falls off. Just get back too it.
i eat a shit ton of meat and peanut butter
so i think i have protein covered
Make sure it's good peanut butter
So you're not killing your arteries
ok
Fruit.
yeah i'm gonna start adding more fruits and vegetables into my diet
because i tend to be a pretty picky eater lmao
I dont eat any chocolate anymore
I am at at least 100 days nofap
Diet should be pretty healthy, I got a good immune system and I regularly take a blood sample to see if I got all my nutritions
I need to exercise more
I should try to take cold showers again
I'm studying pretty hard, but my results are not as good as I want them to be
If you want some tips for studying, perhaps taking a 15-minute break once an hour will help, if you don't already. Also, whatever you study ~15 min before sleep will be what is best retained, so make sure you do your final Essential Points Review before going to bed, maybe when you're doing automatic stuff like brushing your teeth or washing your face. And if you're allowed to chew gum or have mints/tic-tacs/candies during tests, you could try to associate a class and study sort with a flavour and smell. Helps some people with recall. Hope this helps!
Have you guys heard of the Mind Palace memory technique - for studying?
nope
Yes
Its where you imagine a palace in your mind and you place things that you want to remember in different rooms.
that's
weird
it works by utilizing spacial memory instead of .. other memory
Self Improvement book reccomendations?
Not really, they dont work
Focus on reading classical lit.
Go for, healthy diet, nofap, exercise and developing sound political ideas
Pretty much any western author is a good place to start.
Depending on your reading comprehension level, you may want to start with novelists and work your way to philosophy.
Orwell and Huxley are really good, and important authors to read.
Then to Nietzshe, Decartes, Bertrand Russel, Aquinas, etc....
Also, though he's not technically western, Solzhenitsyn is really important as well, specifically Gulag Archipilago.
Also, important psychology works as well, Freud(Though he missed the mark on a few things, still very enlightening), Jung, Neumann, Becker etc..
How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. Sometimes known as 'The Art of the Violenly Unstoppable Doormat.'
Yeah, Carnegie is great as well.
That is a decent self-help book. The only good one I know.
Oh, I forgot Dostoevsky.
Any study in Philisophy should start with Plato or the Pre-Socratics.
Yeah, they count as western for sure.
You know what, here's one of my bookshelves. Anything on here is good to start.
Should be high enough res to read titles.
Is that yours??
Yes.
Wow, thats how I want my walls to look like ๐
I like these covers
>The Great Works of The Western World.
Shit nigga
That is goodl
It's a set bought with a really nice, but old, leather bound britanica encyclopedia. The encyclopedia is long gotten rid of due to obsolescence. They were several thousand dollars all together. Was probably 2 decades ago now.
Ah man, I will get similar ones
Focus is kinda shit on my fucked up iPhone. I'll take a new one tomorrow after I get my Note8.
Along with some others probably.
Gotta say, I recently started taking cold showers, and I think I'm additcted (not literally). It feels fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone.
Also prevents dry scalp^^
I prefer starting my showers cold and finishing with warmth ๐คท๐ป I don't get as clean in the cold
I find warm showers at first helps get the oil and dirt out, opens the pores, and then cold shower closes em up again, so warm while washing and a cold finish is ๐
๐ค I have yet to try that! I'll do it tommorow at the gym
Ended up trying it today, it was pretty good! ๐
Really? The first times for me were really uncomfortable, I kept my showers shorter.
idk if this is considered self improvement
but instead of buying bread from the store i'm baking it at home
thats cool, how much work is involved in that?
the most primitive way of doing it
is not that hard
grind up wheat seeds + mix with water
and you have dough
however various things like baking powder are good to help make the dough rise
sugar + salt and possibly other toppings are good as well
how does the taste compare?
idk yet
i'll have to see
but once i make some and try it i'll make sure to try to post some results here
please do
On occasion I make a loaf or two, it's crazy how much better than store bought bread it is.
Especially right when it's fresh.
mhm
i've never tried fresh bread before
only store bought shit
Weโre baking it at home too, but we have a machine to do it for us.
I just use breadpans and an oven.
What's really interesting about bread is that your regional bacterium can change it's texture and flavor significantly. San Francisco sourdough is a good example.
that's actually really interesting
bread is now outside and rising
Looks... Very floury.
yeah
very first loaf
Ahhhh. Well, tell us how it turns out!
alrighty
Why's it outside, though?
need to let the dough rise
Can't you do that indoors? Just cover the bowl with a damp handtowel.
recipe called for a hot place to let the dough rise
like 90 degrees fahrenheit outside rn
ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ
I use my over on the "warming" setting.
Hm. Well, alright.
*oven
i don't think my oven has that setting
Whatever it's lowest temp is is probably fine.
I just stick mine near the window, or by an open convection oven.
I guess it depends on the oven, mine is pretty nice.
The open convection overn seems sharp. Doesn't it heat up the room really bad though?
Depends how much you open it, and in winter I turn off the heater when I make bread, use the convection oven and bread oven to make the house smell nice and be warm. In summer I can just leave it by the window.
I'm talking one of those lil toaster ovens you make fish sticks and stuff in. Not the full-size oven.
Yeah. I have one.
I find that active heating produces better results.
Lot's of factors there though.
Winter's the best time to bake. Makes the whole house smell like a home, and there's nothing like warm bread and good butter.
And yeah, I can see that. My state's just so warm, I hardly ever need to bother more with that.
bread is risen
time to bake
You don't double-rise your bread? Interesting.
double rising?
Should lightly knead or punch it and re-rise. Prevents the bread from looking like swiss cheese.
i'll take that into account next time i bake
The gluten strands form more completely with a second rise.
oh nice
Gives more structure, and prevents the bread from being too crumbly.
oh okay
well we'll see how it'll turn out lmao
And as I said, prevents large air holes from forming.
mhm
They say it's best to lightly reknead it, but I just punch down on it a few times and then throw it back in the oven for second rise. Seems to work fine.
If I baked with no bread pan, I would probably knead it instead.
Sure.
bread was a success
crispy, buttered outside
nice and airy/spongy inside
Looks a little uh.... handmade^^
lmao yeah
Good first run though.
Next time, before you put it in the pan, knead it in such a way that the folds are on the underside and the top has a sort of smooth skin on it. Like an elongated pizza dough before rolling. It will be much more aestetically pleasing as an end product and will give you the familiar "bread form factor".
