A top gang prosecutor in San Bernardino County has been put on administrative leave while the District Attorney's Office investigates discriminatory comments he made on social media, District Attorney Mike Ramos said Monday.
San Bernardino County Deputy District Attorney Michael Selyem is accused of making profanity-laced comments about Rep. Maxine Waters, former first lady Michelle Obama and Mexican immigrants.
In one post, Selyem wrote of Waters, saying "being a loud-mouthed (expletive) in the ghetto you would think someone would have shot this (expletive) by now."
In another he speaks of a suspect in an officer-involved shooting, saying "That s-bag got what he deserved" and "had he stopped being a complete (expletive) and listened to the police, he wouldn't have gotten shot."
It's unclear if that's from a current case he was investigating.
Both Selyem's Facebook and Instagram accounts have been deleted.
Ramos said his office received a complaint about the comments on June 28 and immediately launched a personnel investigation.

SEAGOVILLE, Texas - Law enforcement officials found some evidence of an active shooter at the Seagoville U.S. Army Reserve Center.
According to the Dallas County Sheriffโs Office, someone reported hearing gunfire inside the building on Simonds Road around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Deputies began sweeping the building with help from the Seagoville and Dallas police departments. They went room by room, evacuating people. Later Army personnel and employees could be seen walking through the parking lot with their hands up.

AKRON โ Former Akron Police Chief James Nice filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against the City of Akron, Mayor Daniel Horrigan, current Police Chief Kenneth Ball and other unnamed city officials.
The lawsuit claims the defendants engaged in malicious and highly-public false attacks on Niceโs character and reputation and abused the legal process to force Nice to resign.
The lawsuit alleges defamation, invasion of privacy, first and fourth amendment retaliation, abuse of process and use of false recordings, stemming from an investigation of Nice that began in August.
After the investigation began, Nice resigned from his role as Akron Police Chief, which he held since 2011.
The lawsuit states Mayor Horrigan pressured Nice into promoting staff members to high level roles because they were loyal to Horrigan, even though Nice felt they were not qualified. Nice approached members of City Council with his concerns, prompting Horrigan to retaliate and find a way to remove Nice as Chief, the suit alleges.

PHILADELPHIA (WHTM) - A nurse is headed to trial in the death of the father of President Donald Trumpโs former national security adviser at a Philadelphia senior care facility.
Christann Gainey, 30, was held for trial following her preliminary hearing on Monday. She is charged with neglect of a care-dependent person, involuntary manslaughter, and tampering with records in connection with the April 13 death of Herbert R. McMaster Sr.
Prosecutors say Gainey failed to administer eight required neurological checks to McMaster after he fell at the Cathedral Village retirement community. They said the checks could have indicated the severity of his injuries and steps could have been taken to save his life.
Gainey allegedly falsified documents to make it seem she had administered the checks.
McMasterโs son, H.R. McMaster Jr., served as Trumpโs national security adviser from February 2017 until he resigned in March.
