2018-06-11 18:38:36 UTC

Probably about 7 minutes assuming they actually answer the phone when I call in to cancel

2018-06-11 18:59:06 UTC

quarterings latest vid on fake alt-right accounts is pretty good

2018-06-11 19:00:41 UTC

wait are you pro or con NN?

2018-06-11 19:01:56 UTC

Pro

2018-06-11 19:02:05 UTC

i think real life should be ordered... and the internet should be anarchy

2018-06-11 19:02:13 UTC

^

2018-06-11 19:02:20 UTC

I think goverment tends fuck things up

2018-06-11 19:02:33 UTC

the internet flourished without any regulation.. why start now?

2018-06-11 19:03:42 UTC

Net Neutrality IS goverment regulation

2018-06-11 19:04:01 UTC

riight that's what I mean

2018-06-11 19:06:38 UTC

Thing is, if you regulate anything, you are now responsible for the things that slip through

2018-06-11 19:06:48 UTC

That

2018-06-11 19:06:50 UTC

and also

2018-06-11 19:07:01 UTC

the FTC is much better at going after companies that do shady shit

2018-06-11 19:07:29 UTC

which is basically all that happened, responsibility went from the FCC (a freaking licensing wing) to the FTC which actually can do shit

2018-06-11 19:07:32 UTC

How you gonna regulate something as anomalous as a network. And arguably its not exactly something on your priority since its all on the "dark net". Even then thats rather difficult anyway.

2018-06-11 19:08:07 UTC

the FTC already has unfair and deceptive practices authority, it's what they do

2018-06-11 19:08:19 UTC

and they do it in all industries..

2018-06-11 19:08:52 UTC

so as long as things are not "unfair or deceptive" laissez-faire

2018-06-11 19:10:59 UTC

Well more like spend the money else where instead of your inquisition against immorality

2018-06-11 19:16:30 UTC

is farmlands out yet?

2018-06-11 19:18:09 UTC

doesn't look like it

2018-06-11 19:23:12 UTC

No farmlands. Apparently it wasn't normie compatible so extra bits are being added to explain some history

2018-06-11 19:25:18 UTC

By the time it's released there will be no South Africa, so I guess the added history is kind of a good idea lol

2018-06-11 19:29:53 UTC

@Blackhawk342 if I had a choice in ISP, probably not long. Unfortunately this is the real hurdle that even made net neutrality really any kind of potential issue. You have like 1 or 2 options for ISPs in a lot of places if you don't want to deal with sat internet.

2018-06-11 19:33:33 UTC

I dont thinkt hat would have changed with NN

2018-06-11 19:33:40 UTC

infrastructure costs money

2018-06-11 19:34:10 UTC

and any goverment subsidies by the likes of ATT have been squandered to put infrastructure in rural places, so I dont' trust it anyway

2018-06-11 19:35:00 UTC

Itโ€™s not just money, the regulatory hurdles required to start your own ISP are so intense that even Google is having problems expanding Google Fiber

2018-06-11 19:35:52 UTC

meh alot of that is ATT being assholes

2018-06-11 19:35:56 UTC

but I understand it

2018-06-11 19:36:02 UTC

or other ocmpanies

2018-06-11 19:36:19 UTC

basically their shit is working on the poles and they dont want some random person f'n with it

2018-06-11 19:37:48 UTC

so yes they're being assholes but they are protecting their own stuff at the same time, not that I agree with it but understand it...

2018-06-11 19:38:41 UTC

That is one problem, though from what I know Google runs their own lines (and often does a poor job)

2018-06-11 19:40:07 UTC

I have a buddy whoโ€™s an ATT tech, he says Google hires local contractors who often do shady shit like run lines through the road only inches deep and just leave it temporarily filled in

2018-06-11 19:41:01 UTC

When Australia wins the space race y'all can use our satellite internet

2018-06-11 19:41:17 UTC

NN didn't solve anything really

2018-06-11 19:41:29 UTC

outside of making everything probably slower

2018-06-11 19:41:41 UTC

because video steaming and stuff takes up a LOT of bandwidth

2018-06-11 19:42:05 UTC

I canโ€™t wait to purchase the chat package that includes discord

2018-06-11 19:44:49 UTC

It worked the opposite here, ISPs would offer freebies to say Facebook to outbid for customers, everything else is the same price

2018-06-11 19:46:28 UTC

its a bit of an iffy thing,

WITH NN, theres no need to compete since theres no new customer base, cuz everyone is required to get the same package, so price is the only thing that matters,
And to invest into making new internet across US might not give desirable returns

2018-06-11 19:46:55 UTC

So youยดre stuck with shitty internet since no company bothers being better, theres no competition

2018-06-11 19:47:34 UTC

without NN, you CAN get like bad package deals, and then a new company can come in and offer universal internet for a good price, and steal the market again

2018-06-11 19:48:20 UTC

also, Americans should be aware NN didnยดt exist for them before 2015
So how bad was it really? ๐Ÿ˜›

2018-06-11 19:48:43 UTC

Customer service, lock in scam contracts (join us for free Facebook and Netflix), and general connection speed/reliability.
This is what Australian ISPs rely on.

2018-06-11 19:49:34 UTC

Again, what new company? How with the regulation involved? And where? We have literally one option here that isnโ€™t satellite.

2018-06-11 19:50:01 UTC

Mine is pay by the month and unlimited. They are booming ahead because what other offer could be better

2018-06-11 19:50:18 UTC

If those concerns were addressed I would agree

2018-06-11 19:50:25 UTC

@Dr.Wol you are stuck with shitty internet either way because there is so much regulatory crap, plus the existing companies lobbying, that no new companies can compete. still no need to innovate or upgrade.

2018-06-11 19:50:36 UTC

true, that is the issue

2018-06-11 19:51:01 UTC

which is why some people want NN, so that if they are stuck with the same company, at least they are getting to all the sites they want to just like everyone else.

2018-06-11 19:51:16 UTC

but its a bandaid that does nothing to fix the issue. it just makes everyone slow

2018-06-11 19:51:32 UTC

we are all equal in poverty, so it were.

2018-06-11 19:51:49 UTC

the one universal right

2018-06-11 19:51:55 UTC

you have the right to live empoverished

2018-06-11 19:52:10 UTC

The law here is if only one company is in the area, they must offer the deals of every other company.

2018-06-11 19:52:37 UTC

how does that...work?

2018-06-11 19:52:42 UTC

sounds like a nightmare

2018-06-11 19:52:54 UTC

"here are the 357 different plan options"

2018-06-11 19:53:03 UTC

i think government and big bussiness tends to fuck things up

2018-06-11 19:53:22 UTC

government + big business fucks everything up.

2018-06-11 19:53:28 UTC

government + anything == fucked up

2018-06-11 19:53:47 UTC

big bussiness becomes your government when it is large enough

2018-06-11 19:54:01 UTC

If it's rural or a new area, you can't miss out on a good deal.
Basically what happens is the first company rents its equipment to other companies to avoid the headache

2018-06-11 19:54:16 UTC

it can only really get that big with government help.

2018-06-11 19:54:23 UTC

no not really

2018-06-11 19:55:22 UTC

So I could go to telstra and say optus offers this, you have to match it. Telstra doesn't want to so they let optus use their infrastructure

2018-06-11 19:55:48 UTC

all you need to do in order to get big is outcompete your compatition, which becomes easier the sooner you have a product that takes longer for anyone else to be able to provide and the larger you get the harder it becomes to compete with you

2018-06-11 19:56:01 UTC

those 2 factors are almost never effected by government

2018-06-11 19:56:40 UTC

in the past governemnt has only ever worked against those 2 factors by either regulating resources or breaking monopolys

2018-06-11 19:56:44 UTC

name on thing needed to live that matches that criteria

2018-06-11 19:56:59 UTC

Women

2018-06-11 19:57:11 UTC

women are property?

2018-06-11 19:57:14 UTC

woke

2018-06-11 19:57:27 UTC

Yes!!! *jk

2018-06-11 19:57:35 UTC

i mean, if we are talking about Dubai

2018-06-11 19:57:59 UTC

but religion is government over there. as if organized religion and government are really different things to start with

2018-06-11 19:58:06 UTC

They will be property in Europe and Canada soon

2018-06-11 19:58:33 UTC

Already property in the middle east

2018-06-11 19:59:17 UTC

Europe and Canada are about to become the middle east so i'd say so

2018-06-11 19:59:35 UTC

America is gonna become central america before we become the middle east, however

2018-06-11 20:00:48 UTC

It's hard enough maintaining my vehicles, stuff owning wamans, that's like twice as hard

2018-06-11 20:00:54 UTC

a long time ago people killed eachother for resources, the best people at that were able to get other people to kill for them, those people used that influince to lay claim over all the resources of a great geographic area with a heirarchy of killers of anyone who would oppose them and by respecting those who are closest to them on that heirarchy. over time people who were best at managing resources began to subplant those best at killing once sovereignty over large resource geographys were concentrated at the top. NOT so long ago we stopped letting those people who controled all those resources be the head of our governments

2018-06-11 20:00:56 UTC

And russia will win in the long run

2018-06-11 20:02:25 UTC

Long live Putin!

2018-06-11 20:03:01 UTC

tell me, how could we choose to stop letting them be in that position if they have all the power?

2018-06-11 20:04:44 UTC

through Jihad ofc

2018-06-11 20:05:32 UTC

it was a deal between the middle of the heirarchy and the bottom of the heirarchy called democracy which lead those at the middle to rising to the top and the bottom rising to the middle with the deal being that those who rose would have less direct power and influince than those before giving more over to those below and this lead to some degree of seporation between bussiness and governence

2018-06-11 20:05:49 UTC

though this would also absolve bussiness a lot of responcabilitys

2018-06-11 20:06:41 UTC

and creates a middle man between people and bussinesses called governemnt

2018-06-11 20:07:57 UTC

the government isn't a middle man.

2018-06-11 20:08:20 UTC

well consitering private armys are illegal it kinda is

2018-06-11 20:08:29 UTC

except they are not

2018-06-11 20:08:45 UTC

who just call them "security" firms or "private contractors"

2018-06-11 20:08:54 UTC

or if you like, mercenaries

2018-06-11 20:08:57 UTC

perhaps is just not cost effective anymore

2018-06-11 20:09:09 UTC

PMCs=Private Military Contractors

2018-06-11 20:09:50 UTC

the idea being that the people who own land and resources cant just fight eachother directly anymore, they use the government, even outside their own nation
