2018-08-17 14:29:07 UTC

No, they're based on machine learning.

2018-08-17 14:29:09 UTC

Yes.

2018-08-17 14:29:19 UTC

Search engines use machine learning.

2018-08-17 14:29:22 UTC

They're AI.

2018-08-17 14:30:16 UTC

an AI is an algorithm

2018-08-17 14:30:36 UTC

He can define it however he likes.

2018-08-17 14:30:41 UTC

It's still AI.

2018-08-17 14:30:45 UTC

yeah banned. because people don't appreciate it.

2018-08-17 14:30:47 UTC

gulag-ed

2018-08-17 14:30:48 UTC

:>

2018-08-17 14:30:53 UTC

The most advanced AI in use today are search engines.

2018-08-17 14:31:28 UTC

Indexers shit like that

2018-08-17 14:31:40 UTC

2018-08-17 14:31:51 UTC

yoour phone

2018-08-17 14:31:54 UTC

Are just algorithms really

2018-08-17 14:31:59 UTC

the runtime optimization

2018-08-17 14:31:59 UTC

Pretty much, yes.

2018-08-17 14:32:01 UTC

is ai

2018-08-17 14:32:08 UTC

No neural naetworks

2018-08-17 14:32:11 UTC

....

2018-08-17 14:32:18 UTC

you just see ai everywhere

2018-08-17 14:32:20 UTC

It's not an AI it self.

2018-08-17 14:32:21 UTC

lol

2018-08-17 14:32:25 UTC

No self replicating behaviour. Notthing. I wouldnt call it ai

2018-08-17 14:32:25 UTC

It uses it.

2018-08-17 14:32:28 UTC

allright you won the argument

2018-08-17 14:32:32 UTC

what ever

2018-08-17 14:32:43 UTC

battling to semantics

2018-08-17 14:32:48 UTC

...

2018-08-17 14:32:58 UTC

Facebook uses AI, Google uses AI, Bing, apple, tesla, Uber.

2018-08-17 14:33:26 UTC

I agreed with your definition of AI.

2018-08-17 14:33:34 UTC

the only way do decide who won an argument is to use the 5 laws of SUGMA

2018-08-17 14:33:52 UTC

sugma or ligma

2018-08-17 14:36:18 UTC

@>Cytos, de lieve goede synth there is always a winner if the 5 laws are used

2018-08-17 14:42:07 UTC

2018-08-17 14:42:34 UTC

Well you know they changed from dont be evil to do the right thing

2018-08-17 14:42:38 UTC

Guess why

2018-08-17 14:43:27 UTC

Do no evil?

2018-08-17 14:52:31 UTC

Pretty sure its dont be evil

2018-08-17 14:53:44 UTC

Alphabet changed it to "Do the right thing" makes sense

2018-08-17 14:53:55 UTC

And you're right it's "Don't be evil".

2018-08-17 14:56:59 UTC

well the road to hell is paved with good intentions

2018-08-17 14:57:35 UTC

if you beleive youre intents are truly good then youre doing the "right" thing in your beleif

2018-08-17 14:57:41 UTC

so yep makes sense

2018-08-17 15:09:02 UTC

That's an interesting take.

2018-08-17 15:09:18 UTC

Burn it down, to fix it.

2018-08-17 15:11:27 UTC

I bet if you advocated voter ID to that guy he'd flip his shit.

2018-08-17 15:16:03 UTC

Mastadon is a confusing Social platform.

2018-08-17 15:23:34 UTC

The skin color never said

2018-08-17 15:25:31 UTC

If the dude was white betcha they would of described him as white or Caucasian

2018-08-17 15:25:51 UTC

The clerk was arabic

2018-08-17 15:40:02 UTC

Can black people be racist to arabs? ๐Ÿค”

2018-08-17 15:40:13 UTC

Nah, they can only be colorist

2018-08-17 15:41:01 UTC

Wish they were consistent in identifying people

2018-08-17 15:42:30 UTC

you wish identitarians were consistent?

2018-08-17 15:42:52 UTC

Yes pls

2018-08-17 15:43:58 UTC

Really, they should be the most consistent, shouldn't they?

2018-08-17 15:44:13 UTC

They base their shit off of immutable characteristics

2018-08-17 15:46:49 UTC

They are consistent if your white

2018-08-17 15:48:04 UTC

Shaun King

2018-08-17 15:48:31 UTC

Plus there's still the trans/nonbinary thing

2018-08-17 15:54:29 UTC

counter social uses the same argument trump supporters use

2018-08-17 15:54:38 UTC

"nations are not races and not racism"

2018-08-17 15:56:03 UTC

why does the intercept hire shaun fucking king ahhhhhhhh

2018-08-17 15:56:38 UTC

Same reason nytimes hired sarah jeong

2018-08-17 15:56:54 UTC

Diversity

2018-08-17 15:57:20 UTC

i like the investigative journalism done by greenwald and the intercept. i really do. but i really dislike their politics.

2018-08-17 15:59:19 UTC

>the diversity of hiring a white dude who says he's black

2018-08-17 15:59:27 UTC

I dont often watch styx, but he just made a good point...
"the MSM dont care about free pres, they care about profit margins, if they cared about free press theyd care more about online media"

2018-08-17 16:00:04 UTC

I guess you could say they care about free press - when its affecting their profit margins

2018-08-17 16:01:08 UTC

I just watched the same vid @wacka lol

2018-08-17 16:01:53 UTC

Free press vs Profit press?

2018-08-17 16:03:40 UTC

It feels like the subscription model needs to come back and survive if we want news orgs to play nicely ever

2018-08-17 16:03:57 UTC

Clicks for cash incentivizes the wrong behavior

2018-08-17 16:04:39 UTC

you cant force people/incentivise people .. to pay for something that others are providing for free

2018-08-17 16:04:55 UTC

at least not in a free market society

2018-08-17 16:05:08 UTC

unless you have something uniquely valuable

2018-08-17 16:05:13 UTC

That's the thing, almost nobody is providing good journalism

2018-08-17 16:05:47 UTC

"Value Added" concept comes back into play, dang it.

2018-08-17 16:06:24 UTC

My prime sources now are Tim and Reuters because they're the most on the ball and admit fault. Everything else comes with 40 or so caveats

2018-08-17 16:07:31 UTC

I would gladly pay per month for a full paper that didn't focus on pushing an agenda or baiting eyes to ads

2018-08-17 16:07:43 UTC

IE one that isn't a glorified blog or tabloid

2018-08-17 16:07:58 UTC

wew

2018-08-17 16:09:28 UTC

one thing I thought about is building a community driven app... that lets you make wiki-style edits to live news sites, and you can select whether its "slant/spin/false(citations needed)" etc... so anyone else with the app can see a news site in normal mode and switch to "non-partisan" mode

2018-08-17 16:09:40 UTC

newsvoice does that

2018-08-17 16:09:41 UTC

sorry... not app... extension ....

2018-08-17 16:09:45 UTC

they sponsored my channel

2018-08-17 16:10:18 UTC

@YuXiang i just retweeted that thanks for sharing

2018-08-17 16:12:27 UTC

in fairness against musk... even when he did tweet about the share buying and going private I thought that was a bit shady

2018-08-17 16:12:35 UTC

many people have gone to jail for less

2018-08-17 16:13:48 UTC

no problemo

2018-08-17 16:14:32 UTC

what interesting though... is that if it was a few years ago.. maybe just before the election... if trump stock was at say 200 and he said "we might go private and buy all the stock at 300" (which would immediately boost all his stock) ... he would be finished

2018-08-17 16:14:32 UTC

yeah that was shady. manipulating stock market?

2018-08-17 16:14:59 UTC

is it on the level of insider trading?
