2018-08-23 06:50:06 UTC

America has alot of salt mines

2018-08-23 06:50:11 UTC

Exactly.

2018-08-23 06:50:22 UTC

And I'm not talking about dota2

2018-08-23 06:50:23 UTC

I live near a salt mine as well.

2018-08-23 06:50:47 UTC

So yeah, I live in a perfect place for restoring the small city and getting it back up to snuff.

2018-08-23 06:50:49 UTC

It's Okie. Everyone's got a basement to act as a shelter.

2018-08-23 06:50:56 UTC

True that.

2018-08-23 06:51:13 UTC

The main issue would be top soil collection and disposal.

2018-08-23 06:51:14 UTC

I think you're putting a bit too much emphasis on heavy fortification.

2018-08-23 06:51:17 UTC

Before rebuilding.

2018-08-23 06:51:32 UTC

I mean, if you cannot hold your food supplies you can just be starved out anyway.

2018-08-23 06:51:33 UTC

Fortification isn't what I am talking about, I am talking about rebuilding.

2018-08-23 06:51:46 UTC

Why Oklahoma is great for growing food.

2018-08-23 06:51:46 UTC

XD

2018-08-23 06:51:52 UTC

Well while ur going about remaking boring ass civilization, I'm gonna enjoy my short life as a techno barbarian

2018-08-23 06:52:13 UTC

Who says it has to be boring?

2018-08-23 06:52:45 UTC

I would have people who is good at restoring tech to rebuild technology as well.

2018-08-23 06:52:54 UTC

Compared to bdsm shootouts, it's pretty boring

2018-08-23 06:52:54 UTC

Rewiring, reworking, etc, etc..

2018-08-23 06:53:12 UTC

Honestly. You've got most of the expertiser already.

2018-08-23 06:53:21 UTC

It would also give me a chance to rebuild Stillwater better.

2018-08-23 06:53:22 UTC

The necessary skills are really all blue collar

2018-08-23 06:53:25 UTC

Which is everywhere.

2018-08-23 06:53:42 UTC

It's going beyond having stuff where you need people who are educated and stuff.

2018-08-23 06:53:49 UTC

We have farmers, we have engineers, we have constructors, we have blue collar, we have military personel...

2018-08-23 06:54:08 UTC

Really all you need.

2018-08-23 06:54:19 UTC

I do also plan on raiding library for teaching material...

2018-08-23 06:54:36 UTC

Eh. Most libraries these days aren't that useful.

2018-08-23 06:54:40 UTC

The local college for books and the local trades craft place...

2018-08-23 06:54:40 UTC

Filled mostly with fluff.

2018-08-23 06:54:44 UTC

What is the trade craft place called?

2018-08-23 06:54:49 UTC

Or download wikipedia on an external harddrive

2018-08-23 06:54:51 UTC

That is like college.

2018-08-23 06:54:54 UTC

The local community college is probably more useful.

2018-08-23 06:55:03 UTC

We got that too PRatel.

2018-08-23 06:55:09 UTC

But even that isn't going to have alot of the stuff you'd want.

2018-08-23 06:55:22 UTC

OU engineering would be more helpful.

2018-08-23 06:55:27 UTC

or OSU.

2018-08-23 06:55:40 UTC

But it doesn't really matter much anyway.

2018-08-23 06:55:49 UTC

You'd need resources to really use most of that stuff.

2018-08-23 06:55:52 UTC

Wait, how bad is this disaster we are planning for

2018-08-23 06:56:02 UTC

And advanced fabrication isn't something you're going to just have laying around anywhere.

2018-08-23 06:56:05 UTC

Trades School, Local Community College, International College, OSU, Nuclear Fallout Shelter, Military Base, Military Compound, Military Bunker, and a Airport.

2018-08-23 06:56:10 UTC

Which is a kinda key step.

2018-08-23 06:56:12 UTC

We also have Local Farms just on Outskirts.

2018-08-23 06:56:58 UTC

Our Cities infrastructure isn't that complex, we also have a nuclear plant and an shut down coal plant.

2018-08-23 06:57:07 UTC

Realistically, Stillwater OK would be almost completely unaffected and could probably maintain it's current standard of living if it could avoid getting overcome by refugees and find new supply lines for stuff.

2018-08-23 06:57:29 UTC

That is why I love Stillwater.

2018-08-23 06:57:31 UTC

Nuclear plant would likely need to get shuttered. Where would you get more uranium?

2018-08-23 06:57:47 UTC

Yeah it would get shuttered and Coal Plant restarted.

2018-08-23 06:57:57 UTC

That's much harder than it sounds though.

2018-08-23 06:58:00 UTC

Where you gonna get the coal

2018-08-23 06:58:02 UTC

Local Coal mind could be restarted too.

2018-08-23 06:58:10 UTC

coal isn't too hard in the US actually.

2018-08-23 06:58:14 UTC

Tends to be everywhere.

2018-08-23 06:58:24 UTC

And the coal country would probably be unscathed too.

2018-08-23 06:58:33 UTC

We have so much useful stuff in this tiny area.

2018-08-23 06:58:37 UTC

I am happy with Stillwater.

2018-08-23 06:58:43 UTC

Restarting a coal plant is kinda hard though.

2018-08-23 06:59:02 UTC

Large industrial facilities are very expensive and complicated to start or shut down.

2018-08-23 06:59:16 UTC

And you would probably need some kind of power supply ironically to get all the systems up.

2018-08-23 06:59:23 UTC

Here is a map how the fallout would travel if it hit United States.

2018-08-23 06:59:24 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/463054787336732683/482081409855389716/aacont2.png

2018-08-23 06:59:40 UTC

Stillwater would probably avoid most of the fallout.

2018-08-23 06:59:41 UTC

Plus there's almost certainly rot in the computers and stuff. And you'd have a hard time replacing those.

2018-08-23 06:59:48 UTC

And coal power plant needs large and consistent amount of coal transported to it

2018-08-23 06:59:53 UTC

That is true, the rot in computers is something.

2018-08-23 07:00:08 UTC

Those are really specialized components that are hard to find. Particularly is CA got knocked out (as it likely would).

2018-08-23 07:00:18 UTC

I might have civilians start using solar panels and coal generators.

2018-08-23 07:00:29 UTC

Might make sense.

2018-08-23 07:00:38 UTC

Nukes are like a gigantic god using a firesword. o:

2018-08-23 07:00:43 UTC

And goin FWOOSH

2018-08-23 07:00:44 UTC

The fundamentals of power generation are actually pretty simple.

2018-08-23 07:00:44 UTC

FWOOSH

2018-08-23 07:00:48 UTC

And KERPLOWWWWW

2018-08-23 07:00:57 UTC

Pop pop pop

2018-08-23 07:01:01 UTC

No, no pops.

2018-08-23 07:01:01 UTC

The challenge is usually in the monitoring and scale.

2018-08-23 07:01:07 UTC

Wop?

2018-08-23 07:01:08 UTC

I wonder if it is possible to use wheat for generators.

2018-08-23 07:01:17 UTC

Yes.

2018-08-23 07:01:20 UTC

I rather have food

2018-08-23 07:01:34 UTC

But the genrators you would use wouldn't be very efficient or common.

2018-08-23 07:01:36 UTC

Hmm... we can use a portion of surplus to make up for lack of coal if we are lacking any.

2018-08-23 07:01:55 UTC

Or wood generator

2018-08-23 07:01:59 UTC

Or a Wood Generator.

2018-08-23 07:02:06 UTC

Salvage wood and use it.

2018-08-23 07:02:08 UTC

Most power plants are really no different than taking a pot, filling it with water, boiling it over a fireplace and then using the steam to turn a propellor.

2018-08-23 07:02:16 UTC

Yep

2018-08-23 07:02:23 UTC

That's oversimplifying it of course, but that's really all you're doing.

2018-08-23 07:02:25 UTC

I would try to get citizens to rebuild with Concrete and use lead base paint.

2018-08-23 07:02:26 UTC

Super steam engine

2018-08-23 07:02:36 UTC

Then use clear coating to protect from lead base paint poisoning.

2018-08-23 07:02:46 UTC

Over complicating things.

2018-08-23 07:02:49 UTC

Use what you have.

2018-08-23 07:02:59 UTC

Keep it simple stupid

2018-08-23 07:02:59 UTC

I'd probably use thatch and wheat chaff.

2018-08-23 07:02:59 UTC

We will have to scrub down the buildings from radiation.

2018-08-23 07:03:16 UTC

Concrete is perfect to be honest, it is cheap and easy to use.

2018-08-23 07:03:27 UTC

I thought you'd waited for the radiation afterwards and scrubbed it all already?
