wait so what was the consensus on the FAL parts kits Imbel or L1A1

2018-09-26 00:06:31 UTC

Imbel good, L1A1 a pain to get a receiver and proper mags

2018-09-26 00:06:46 UTC

Otherwise good

2018-09-26 00:07:05 UTC

spmthe Ausi ones are Metric?

2018-09-26 00:07:10 UTC

You could just get a barreled Receiver from DSA

2018-09-26 00:07:23 UTC

Yes Aussie are Inch

2018-09-26 00:07:31 UTC

Not metric

2018-09-26 00:07:46 UTC

ok, so why wouldnt I be able to find a reciever?

2018-09-26 00:08:08 UTC

you mean finding an actual L1A1 reciever?

2018-09-26 00:08:12 UTC

Do you want a Century Receiver or a 1k DSA inch Receiver?

2018-09-26 00:08:19 UTC

1k USD

2018-09-26 00:10:25 UTC

Get a barreled Receiver from DSA, get a cheaper parts kit minus the barrel

2018-09-26 00:11:57 UTC

yeah the discussion on the Sarge milsurp ones might be moot

2018-09-26 00:15:30 UTC

People do your fuckin research

2018-09-26 00:15:55 UTC

Wanna build a FAL? Maybe spend a few hours reading falfiles or something.

2018-09-26 00:16:47 UTC

@Nic386 Look around for a pre-44k DSA Receiver

2018-09-26 00:17:09 UTC

i just thought about it and am just asking questions before i. go look for myself when zi get home

2018-09-26 00:17:40 UTC

why pre-44k? and is that refering to Serial# or something else

2018-09-26 00:17:58 UTC

LMT contract receiver

2018-09-26 00:20:22 UTC

why was LMT buying FAL recievers?

2018-09-26 00:21:17 UTC

They built them for DSA

2018-09-26 00:21:48 UTC

oooh

2018-09-26 00:21:56 UTC

it was LMT making them

2018-09-26 00:21:58 UTC

ok

2018-09-26 00:22:25 UTC

and thats the serial number thats pre-44k?

2018-09-26 00:29:07 UTC

Yes

2018-09-26 01:09:00 UTC

ok cool

2018-09-26 01:38:58 UTC

2018-09-26 02:10:22 UTC

I mean SOG used to use chicom chest rigs for Thompson mags in โ€˜Nam

2018-09-26 02:10:30 UTC

You wouldnโ€™t be the first yank to do it

2018-09-26 02:10:46 UTC

I think Iโ€™ve seen a dude with one over his IOTV

2018-09-26 02:13:58 UTC

everyone has run chicoms

2018-09-26 02:14:07 UTC

fuck knows spook teams do

2018-09-26 02:14:18 UTC

the fucking contractor special

2018-09-26 02:14:27 UTC

cheap, tough, can be work over a slick

2018-09-26 02:15:34 UTC

It just sorta works, no frills

2018-09-26 02:15:53 UTC

You can stuff many different mags in it, or even a bottle of vodka

2018-09-26 02:18:11 UTC

flasks

2018-09-26 02:18:21 UTC

chicom pouches fit flasks very well

2018-09-26 02:54:19 UTC

LARPing I see.

Friend and former dealer employee

2018-09-26 18:02:50 UTC

Oh

2018-09-26 18:03:20 UTC

Are the Voyagers good? They look ok just from the pictures from the website

2018-09-26 18:06:20 UTC

Theyโ€™re alright guns

2018-09-26 18:06:38 UTC

They hold their value well, decent shooters

2018-09-26 18:06:46 UTC

Iโ€™ve owned two

2018-09-26 18:08:56 UTC

Why did you get rid of them?

2018-09-26 18:10:00 UTC

People offered more than I paid ๐Ÿ˜‚

2018-09-26 18:10:13 UTC

Ah, always a fair sale

got my first battle rifle :^)

2018-09-26 18:35:58 UTC

What manufacturer?

2018-09-26 18:36:57 UTC

Looks like an older PTR

2018-09-26 18:37:39 UTC

@LazySama Youโ€™re gonna want to replace that handguard

2018-09-26 18:37:57 UTC

Heats up like a motherfucker

2018-09-26 18:38:05 UTC

That shit gets super hot about 70-100 rounds in

2018-09-26 18:38:44 UTC

Yeah im trying to look for a green wide handguard

2018-09-26 18:38:59 UTC

Mine has one of those too, fiberglass reinforced with a heat shield. I end up taking the thing off every 100 or so rounds to let the barrel and hand guard cool

2018-09-26 18:39:05 UTC

I got a spare black one

2018-09-26 18:40:03 UTC

Did it come with the bayonet lug or just the cap?

2018-09-26 18:40:12 UTC

just the cap

2018-09-26 18:40:22 UTC

Oof

2018-09-26 18:41:08 UTC

Wait, is the bayonet lug a flat bit sticking out of the cap with a slot In the side of it?

2018-09-26 18:41:15 UTC

I guess I could just paint a black handguard

2018-09-26 18:41:56 UTC

No

2018-09-26 18:42:02 UTC

Thatโ€™s a CETME lug

2018-09-26 18:42:06 UTC

Ah

2018-09-26 18:42:11 UTC

HK is a push in design

2018-09-26 18:42:30 UTC

So what I described is the bayonet lug for a CETME?

2018-09-26 18:48:06 UTC

Yes

2018-09-26 18:49:04 UTC

HK

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/483396318111465482/494581187906371604/image0.jpg

2018-09-26 18:52:28 UTC

Oh, huh so how does it latch in the tube exactly? Because the CETME one has 2 retaining plungers that have to be pushed in for removal

2018-09-26 18:54:08 UTC

Uses a screw

2018-09-26 18:54:30 UTC

With crush washer

2018-09-26 18:56:50 UTC

Oh ok

2018-09-26 18:56:56 UTC

So it just screws in

2018-09-26 18:58:24 UTC
2018-09-26 18:58:34 UTC

tbh i might buy the mags

2018-09-26 18:58:57 UTC

they metric or imperial

2018-09-26 19:04:58 UTC

Metric

2018-09-26 21:52:23 UTC

@LazySama Buy those fuckers up, and then throw away the slim grip so no-one else will find it and think it's a good idea to slap them onto their rifle.

2018-09-26 21:54:41 UTC

how to mount bipod to my knife

2018-09-26 21:54:54 UTC

do i glue a pic rail onto her

2018-09-26 21:56:47 UTC

Way ahead of you, Lion ๐Ÿ‘Œ

2018-09-26 21:57:44 UTC

Hey, the green slim grip I got was only $5, and better than the "Literally melts off" plastic the gun came with

2018-09-26 21:58:40 UTC

that's my one gripe with PTR. The grips they come with are shit teir

2018-09-26 21:59:16 UTC

I'm looking into getting a more insulated one

2018-09-26 21:59:34 UTC

the wide ones are good. but they hold onto heat

2018-09-26 21:59:40 UTC

Or a wooden one for aesthetics

I prefer the look of the L85

2018-09-27 02:32:11 UTC

i alwaus hated the way the trigger looks on this

2018-09-27 02:32:52 UTC

also the "standard" version should have the stock be all the way up the receiver and itd look good

2018-09-27 02:33:49 UTC

also where they ell are your tacticoop rails

2018-09-27 03:15:39 UTC

I bought a Smith and Wesson No1 and a half today for $150 boys. Wish me luck on this project gun.

2018-09-27 06:28:37 UTC

I am waiting till payday. Once that happens I'm buying a Browning A5 receiver

2018-09-27 06:29:52 UTC

It's gonna be my first 12 gauge. I have fired one before. I would love my Grandpa's, but he ain't gonna will it to me and I couldn't do any modding to it. My heart couldn't do it. I'm making a combat shotgun out of mine tho

2018-09-27 07:07:45 UTC

I'm about to flex on yall

2018-09-27 07:14:01 UTC

Nice drum mag

2018-09-27 07:17:58 UTC

illegal in 5 states

2018-09-27 09:37:06 UTC

Saw this post on FB and honestly Iโ€™d buy a reproduction Martini Henry in 45-70. I mean Iโ€™m still going to buy an original one and restore to where it can shoot and reload for it but it would be nice have one I wouldnโ€™t be as worried about damaging and being in a caliber that is readily available

Saw a fudd disaster up close

2018-09-27 17:22:46 UTC

My eyes hurt so bad.

2018-09-27 17:23:05 UTC

Itโ€™s was painful guys.

2018-09-27 17:25:33 UTC

In a nutshell a guy claiming to be a gunsmith showed me a Russian Izzy parts kit build on a nodak spud receiver and he got rid of all of the original furniture for tapco fudd type tactical furniture including the trigger. That wasnโ€™t the bad part though...

2018-09-27 17:28:01 UTC

no

2018-09-27 17:28:02 UTC

stop

2018-09-27 17:28:04 UTC

please

2018-09-27 17:28:09 UTC

Itโ€™s gets much worse

2018-09-27 17:28:24 UTC

@tumble the tapco g2 is a good trigger

2018-09-27 17:28:28 UTC

change my mind

2018-09-27 17:29:56 UTC

This guy literally attached a rail to the original dust cover so he could mount an optic on it and then DRILLED SCREWS INTO THE BACK OF THE FUCKING DUST COVER straight through the receiver because it โ€œwasnโ€™t holdin zeroโ€

2018-09-27 17:30:31 UTC

...........

2018-09-27 17:30:40 UTC

oof

2018-09-27 17:30:43 UTC

tapco makes good triggers tbh. everything else sucks

2018-09-27 17:30:49 UTC

Iโ€™m not fucking kidding this happened

2018-09-27 17:30:57 UTC
2018-09-27 17:31:00 UTC

ok heres a story

2018-09-27 17:31:07 UTC

local smith cannot

2018-09-27 17:31:13 UTC

for the love of god use the internet

2018-09-27 17:31:35 UTC

Original barrel too. This parts kit was nice.... wouldโ€™ve been a good build

2018-09-27 17:31:43 UTC

Okay.

2018-09-27 17:31:43 UTC

i asked for a new gi style 1911 front sight and he said i havent seen one of those for about 40 years

2018-09-27 17:32:02 UTC

since my current one broke the poor steaking

2018-09-27 17:32:34 UTC

ive had multiple issues with him not being able to do things,

2018-09-27 17:32:38 UTC

with multiple style rifles

2018-09-27 17:32:52 UTC

hes a overpaid guncleaner at this rate

2018-09-27 17:33:26 UTC

Lol

2018-09-27 17:33:43 UTC

@tumble AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

2018-09-27 17:33:47 UTC

cant find a front sight cant fix a mosin extractor

2018-09-27 17:34:02 UTC

2018-09-27 17:34:03 UTC

2018-09-27 17:34:18 UTC

LITERALLY

2018-09-27 17:34:27 UTC

Honestly.

2018-09-27 17:34:31 UTC

blew 200 rounds trying to improve my aim thinking i was pulling

2018-09-27 17:34:34 UTC

It's well worth learning light gunsmithing.

2018-09-27 17:34:37 UTC

nope sight is pointing left

2018-09-27 17:34:54 UTC

Iโ€™m lucky I have some guys locally that do great work but by locally I mean I have to drive 35-40 minutes

2018-09-27 17:35:13 UTC

Theres one local guy that's supposedly really fucking good.

2018-09-27 17:35:35 UTC

But, he works on so much shit you'd not have your gun for the better part of a year, even for something minor lmao

2018-09-27 17:35:59 UTC

The one 8 minutes from my house seems questionable and doesnโ€™t know shit about AKโ€™s so I just drive extra to guys I trust.

2018-09-27 17:36:46 UTC

Im gonna get a barreled receiver and finish it off for my first "build"

2018-09-27 17:39:13 UTC

I honestly donโ€™t trust myself yet to build my own. The guys I mentioned that are half an hour away are brilliant with AKโ€™s, so theyโ€™re putting together a Bulgarian parts kit for me right now. Should be done Saturday (hopefully)

2018-09-27 17:40:43 UTC

@tumble How much? Also, post ๐Ÿ…ฑ ics when done

2018-09-27 17:43:22 UTC

Also, if you get a barreled receiver, all you gotta do is drop in the fire control group, safety and add furniture.

fuck yeah

2018-09-27 18:01:49 UTC

who has a link to the directions to make an IKEA chicom

2018-09-27 18:02:52 UTC

Yeah, my parts kit was completely disassembled with no barrel or receiver so I had Childers make me a blank.

2018-09-27 18:06:28 UTC

I think I might try to build myself next time I do a parts kit something cheaper in 7.62.
My parts kit was in 5.45 and I donโ€™t have a 74 currently so I wanted it done right.

Iโ€™m a perfectionist so if something is slightly off to me I will lose my shit.

2018-09-27 18:14:13 UTC

*Nice*

2018-09-27 18:15:36 UTC

@Innaswamp u can probaly just eye it out

2018-09-27 18:28:32 UTC

Apparently it takes six months to be insured for a lost package by Grey Shop.

2018-09-27 18:28:43 UTC

IT also apparently takes six months for them to tell me that

2018-09-27 18:29:03 UTC
2018-09-27 18:29:06 UTC

nope

2018-09-27 18:29:09 UTC

But at least they shipped my replacement out when they told me. So I'm getting my VKBO summer uniform and a balaclava

2018-09-27 18:29:10 UTC

stop right there

2018-09-27 18:29:28 UTC

Also lines up well enough you can adjust gas through handguard

2018-09-27 22:39:32 UTC

whew

2018-09-27 22:39:38 UTC

at least your handgaurds fit

2018-09-27 22:39:53 UTC

at least the teeth on mine are the same size though

2018-09-27 23:25:42 UTC

The left side is OG plastic

2018-09-27 23:25:55 UTC

I'll be swapping it with bakelites real soon tbh

2018-09-27 23:44:18 UTC

So, what would the best multi purpose (rifle and pistol tho just rifle is fine) brass catcher be in you guy's opinion?

2018-09-27 23:44:54 UTC

And for depriving, should I get a hand deprimer or go ahead and get a single stage press that can be used for other reloading steps?

2018-09-27 23:51:12 UTC

Just tape a heavy-cloth bag to the ejection area

2018-09-28 01:16:50 UTC

On a pistol?

2018-09-28 01:19:28 UTC

find some netting that can take hot brass

2018-09-28 01:19:31 UTC

tape to gun

2018-09-28 01:20:20 UTC

and for depriming just go ahead and get a press

2018-09-28 01:21:38 UTC

how much do you want to load

2018-09-28 01:36:19 UTC

Idk, right now I just want to deprimer all the brass I have so I can clean it, then reprime it

2018-09-28 01:36:30 UTC

From there I might reload or sell idk

2018-09-28 01:36:48 UTC

just rock a hand popper for now

2018-09-28 01:37:06 UTC

buy a single if you want to learn the basics then grab something like an RCBS 7 stage

2018-09-28 01:37:20 UTC

disclaimer I am an RCBS shill through and through

2018-09-28 01:37:28 UTC

I probably have 4-5k worth of their shit

2018-09-28 02:13:15 UTC

Well I assume it works then?

2018-09-28 02:14:36 UTC

3 generations of my family used it

2018-09-28 02:16:10 UTC

I've got 32 SW, 32 SW Long, .223/5.56, 9x19, .38 spcl, 357 mag, and .303 British to deprime

2018-09-28 02:16:21 UTC

And hats just what I remember

2018-09-28 02:16:35 UTC

So yeah a universal deprimer is what I need

2018-09-28 03:04:05 UTC

What's the best hand deprimer out there for the money?

2018-09-28 03:12:17 UTC

a syringe, a hose, hose clamp, and water

2018-09-28 03:28:07 UTC

Hmm

2018-09-28 03:28:11 UTC

That could work

2018-09-28 03:28:21 UTC

But it's frankly more work than buying a hand one

2018-09-28 04:59:16 UTC

Alright serious question, my homeowners policy will only cover up to $2000 for my firearms whether theyโ€™re lost, stolen, or fire damage and that doesnโ€™t even cover a quarter of my collection. Does anyone know of a good company that I can get a policy with for just my firearms? Iโ€™m mainly worried about theft and fire damage but it would also be nice to have a plan that covers water damage as well.

2018-09-28 05:03:33 UTC

I've seen good things about the Harvey hand deprimer, anyone have experience with that?

2018-09-28 11:50:23 UTC

Just bury them @majorepic

2018-09-28 11:51:34 UTC

Because thatโ€™s a good solution

2018-09-28 11:52:58 UTC

It's what /k/ would do

2018-09-28 11:54:03 UTC

I donโ€™t doubt that

2018-09-28 12:59:45 UTC

@majorepic Allstate is the only major insurers that insures firearms as part of a policy

2018-09-28 13:00:13 UTC

There are several other insurers that will do firearms policies. NRA has one associated with them, Collectible Insurance Services is another

2018-09-28 13:00:17 UTC

I went through all this a few years ago

2018-09-28 13:39:33 UTC

All I ask for is one day in which Mr. Rogers can pat me on the back and ask "Will you be my neighbor?"

But, there are some people who probably need physical reminders to breathe trying to take my 30 round magazines away because...well, they know what windows taste like.

All I want to do is have a marijuana grow operation on a fully loaded Montana Class Battleship...just how the founding fathers intended. But I can barely have a suppressed SBR because "WhAt AbOuT tHe ChIlDrEn?"

And because of these sucker fish cleaning my windows all the time, I can only see the dissapointed look on Mr. Roger's face before some progressive puckers their fat punchable lips in the only open spot left.

On the upside, at least I have clean windows.
