I wonder should we save our treasury for something possibly more important? If we collect 10 a head for that next Thursday then everyone is bearing the banner burden equally and we still have our treasury for something more stressing than banner construction.

No cost that the treasury pays will be evenly distributed amongst our members. I don't think we should focus on building up those funds over a long period of time. If we have a sudden expense, we can raise money for that when it happens. As Thomas said, our Network savings exists in each of our own pockets.

I wonder what the purpose is of having the treasury then. Only a few people bear the burden of cost toward activism.

Balancing even distribution of cost with the means each member has to give must be the goal. The treasury, used in this way does not fulfill this

Some costs, like our travel costs in December, are being distributed. I don't see a problem with allowing some people to contribute a bit more in a formal and consistent way.

I don't think any cost should be wholly covered by the treasury at any point. I agree we shouldn't let the treasury grow beyond its purposes, but it is antithetical to who we are to cover entire costs between just a few people. How about this: part of the treasury will go towards banner construction, but we still ask for a small collection next Thursday. We pay half the banner materials from treasury, half from collection, Only $5 added on to what our guys need to bring Thursday night

$60 from collection

The remaining $15 I will eat

This will mean I'll have to send out another round of messages to everyone. That alone, I think makes this plan not worth-while since it makes us look unorganized. I think we may be solving a problem that doesn't exist. Going forward, we can treat the treasury your way, but for for this event, it's probably best to stick to the plan.

I agree for this. But in the future let's have the treasury make more frequent smaller contributions to only partly pay for anything. Though the treasury is small now, in the future should this concept grow, the way in which we treat the treasury and the idea with which we use it will characterize how our network operates down the line. We must take care to prevent the treasury from becoming a sole source of funds for anything. All members must share each burden in some way. Otherwise we drift toward reliance on a few members as a network. Something that doesn't happen noticeably.

We should never collect money without purpose. What exactly would the money be going to, how much, and what problem would that be solving?

Traditionally the treasury was started to help guys when they needed it. IE cover gas money for events, rental vehicles, patches and such.

I'm not sure how often people even pay into it anymore.

He says he is now seeking help for his mental health. We will meet with him before December and evaluate. If he has made a recovery I think we can take him, but we will be careful and attentive to any hint of mental instability.

That is good to hear. I think for his sake he needs to get help before coming back. Think of it like the marshal situation. It doesn't work if you do the same things over and over again.

Membership doesn't mean much if guys can be irresponsible or break rules and get removed and then come right back a week later.

I was talking with Tyler WA, and he was telling me about how his network paints over captured yard signs. They then put them back up in public. I think this is much more efficient that destroying the captured signs. We should do that in the future.

That depends, I don't think that format is necessarily approved for activism. What would you paint on it?

In any rate, we shouldn't be removing yard signs off of private property, so the idea itself should not even be on paper.

Of course we don't steal them. No one in our network would ever break the law.

@Vincent TX NW7 Plan for former Mason VT, Rex will set meet up times and places with Mason, Mason will meet with Rex on time every week for a month, in this time span Rex will assess Mason's mental, physical, and social health. If Mason shows improvement in these areas and commitment every one of these meet ups and maintains communication then we will readmit him. If not then reset, he must go another month.

I agree, but from Bill's perspective right now, we're enforcing arbitrary rules against Sam and preventing Sam from redeeming himself. We should have a standardized wait time for re-applies, but in Sam's case, he'd be denied after that time-frame anyway so we should just be up-front in my opinion.
