Hmm...

2018-09-30 17:03:17 UTC

Yes there are homeless people who die of exposure but that's usually due to substance abuse and not seeking shelter.

2018-09-30 17:03:37 UTC

Oh, you mean to certain things

2018-09-30 17:03:41 UTC

well my example is a bit random and oddly specific,

But the idea of "progress" as a society, would mean something that everyone benefits from,

You can't fix inequality, but you can progress society so that the bottom is still going great,
No one would be against helping the bottom up,

The issue is that people want to help the bottom up, by dragging the top down

And then its no longer progress for all

2018-09-30 17:03:54 UTC

```I can afford antibiotics```
Yeah that's not gonna be a thing for much longer lol
2018-09-30 17:04:23 UTC
well, you can still afford them, they just stop having use 😛
2018-09-30 17:04:45 UTC
kind of like a woman outside the kitchen 😉
2018-09-30 17:04:49 UTC
No I mean the escalation of prices due to insurance, like the >$100 gauze from the hospital etc
2018-09-30 17:05:46 UTC
true, you americans need to get your medical bill issue together
2018-09-30 17:07:45 UTC
I object to the idea that people are dropping like flies because they can't afford antibiotics.
2018-09-30 17:08:05 UTC
well that wasn't my point either 😛
2018-09-30 17:08:17 UTC
The real issue is people going into debt slavery because of medical bills
2018-09-30 17:08:25 UTC
Well
2018-09-30 17:08:33 UTC
Not exactly.
2018-09-30 17:08:41 UTC
My point was that people in the 1700's would die from a splinter due to infection, and now that we can use anti-biotics we can stay alive with it (and cleaner homes) hence we've progressed to a safter society
2018-09-30 17:08:53 UTC
Have you guys heard of Precision medecine?
2018-09-30 17:08:55 UTC
There are ways to ameliorate the cost of medical services but the important thing to remember is that ***medical services have a cost that has to be borne by someone***.
2018-09-30 17:09:00 UTC
There is no free.
2018-09-30 17:09:15 UTC
So does the military
2018-09-30 17:09:28 UTC
The antibiotics we now have may just be the cure for the future
2018-09-30 17:09:30 UTC
There is no free, but theres that issue of inflated prices due to cartel practices, monopoly / thrusts
2018-09-30 17:09:45 UTC
and the American phrama industry is doing that big-time
2018-09-30 17:09:48 UTC
We take out loans that will never be repaid to fund the military
2018-09-30 17:09:49 UTC
I'm so tempted to take a pic of all my knives and tweet at them. what a bunch of cocks.
2018-09-30 17:10:10 UTC
Recently, it was discovered that a pill previously used for tapeworms shrinks kidney cancer tumours.
2018-09-30 17:10:28 UTC
We could be declaring a "war on disease" instead of a "war on terror"
2018-09-30 17:10:34 UTC
welcome to medicine,
"We dont know why it works, but it works, so take two of these and call me in the morning"
2018-09-30 17:10:43 UTC
@Risotto both are unwinnable wars.
2018-09-30 17:10:48 UTC
I wrote an article about it
2018-09-30 17:10:51 UTC
Disease will always exist.
2018-09-30 17:11:34 UTC
Terrorism will always exist.
2018-09-30 17:13:33 UTC
Yeah, but what do we get out of a war on terror? Not new medicines or life-extending regimens, just death.
2018-09-30 17:13:57 UTC
Two wars without an endgame, one has positive knock-on effects one doesn't.
2018-09-30 17:14:31 UTC
got drones out of it
2018-09-30 17:15:05 UTC
Hooray, now the drones can smash my shit up when they deliver it
2018-09-30 17:15:51 UTC
How about instead of taking a trillion dollars in taxes from citizens every year and spending it on a never-ending war, we let the taxpayers keep it.
2018-09-30 17:16:21 UTC
but that would solve issues
2018-09-30 17:16:29 UTC
and you cant campaign on solved issues
2018-09-30 17:17:10 UTC
That's part of what was saying earlier about progressivism. It's perpetual revolution. There always has to be some new fight to justify the existence of the movement.
2018-09-30 17:17:22 UTC
You can't ever say "things are pretty good".
