That's why the utopia is always kind of nebulous. They want each person to imagine their own version which is perfect to them. If they make the utopia a concrete thing then it wouldn't be utopia to all people.

Even to the person imagining it, after a time.

Anyone trying to sell you utopia is a fool or a liar. Any world inhabited by humans is going to be just as flawed as humans are.

I guess when you start and run countries that ran for hundreds of years you do a bad job

There will always be inequality, violence, hate, injustice, jealously, bias, etc. Always. Anyone who says otherwise is either an idiot or wants their boot on your neck.

Things can get better.

I'm not a conservative by any means, if something is genuinely better i'm all for it,

But "progress for the sake of progress", or in current year terms "I want to feel good helping people i consider lessers" Is not a good guidebook on improving society

'Progressive' is a poorly thought out marketing campaign that gained its own life and got away from its creators.
Progress implies movement. Movement away from something and movement towards something. If it's away from something, that something must have already been in existence - probably for a long time. If it's towards something, that something doesn't exist and may not even be real. How will you know when you reach it? What happens to the movement when you do?

It's perpetual revolution that must continually find things to revolt against in order to justify existing.

Progress is going from "Welp i have a splinter in me, guess i'll die" to "aww yiss, i can afford antibiotics and stay alive" 😛

I guess if your goal is to not die and you can afford the means to stay alive...

That's a pretty simple goal these days, if you believe the above charts.

In western nations our poor die of obesity related diseases far, far, far more than starvation.
