Well the thing with that is
A treaty only works if it can be enforced,
If America is the only one that can strike from the sky, they can just obliterate anyone that disagrees
The power of being in space is often overstated is all im saying
i'm all for tungsten rods 😃
all hail the carbon rod
You folks do know Russian Federation already had a Space Force right?
imagine if trump turned the moon into a death star
high density, high melting point
its impossible to *drop* anything from space.
You need a LOT of energy to bring it down
yeah it will just get caught in orbit
So it can fall on anyone
Rail guns 😄
you need a specific trajectory to break orbit
right
no problem 😃
nah, a huge magnifying glass 😄 and fry the surface like Ants
lol
gas the entire planet
the power of the sun
to get a huge surface area of sunlight onto a small panel
Magnefier just focusses the many streams to a single point,
It doesn't "add" energy
yeah but can increase the surface effiency
The system most often described is "an orbiting tungsten telephone pole with small fins and a computer in the back for guidance".[citation needed] The system described in the 2003 United States Air Force report[citation needed] was that of 20-foot-long (6.1 m), 1-foot-diameter (0.30 m) tungsten rods, that are satellite controlled, and have global strike capability, with impact speeds of Mach 10.[7][8][9]
The time between deorbit and impact would only be a few minutes
Well yeah but at best you get a laser from that.
And firering a laser through the atmosphere and the entire atmosphere wont work...
Even laserguns in fallout, the energy neccessary to do that to your target, well, lets just say itll ionise the air directly in front of you and grill the user more than the target
i think first really we should be racing to exploit the asteriod belt
Trump has a more economy-efficient plan
Economic warfare,
Dry other countries economic independence away, so that America can just hold all the cards and strings
one tungsten rod impact would have the same energy as a blast of 11,5 tons of tnt
that's a small nuke 😃
the thing you gotta remember about energy transfer trough the air, is that it tends to lose effect quadratically with distance
@mer.at yes. And it will require a lot more energy to bring it down than it will impact. And even more to bring it up AND the neccessary fuel to bring it down up as well
when you hold a frozen turkey in the air right next to a radio tower, you can bake it in no time, but even 10 meters away and you will stand there for a lifetime trying to cook that turkey
thats bullshit
it's only 9 tons
9 tons of tungston?
9 tons are 9 tons, regardless of the material X-D
Yeah that will require more than 11kilotons of tnt to get into and out of orbit.
so?
