most of those are people who see their ideals as infallible for an arbitrary reason

2018-10-04 12:34:13 UTC

Agreed

2018-10-04 12:34:28 UTC

Wonder how heavily the agreeable/disagreeable personality factors into this...

2018-10-04 12:35:06 UTC

considering wamen are on average more "agreeable" and we look at feminism

I'd say very little

2018-10-04 12:35:24 UTC

But they are agreeing.

2018-10-04 12:35:29 UTC

With those in their lives.

2018-10-04 12:35:32 UTC

to one side

2018-10-04 12:35:45 UTC

Hmm ... okay.

2018-10-04 12:36:44 UTC

@Undead Mockingbird Not sure what you are okaying, or if you realized what I was saying wasn't interesting. If you have something interesting, by all means feel free to share with the class.

2018-10-04 12:37:07 UTC

I am not being critical.

2018-10-04 12:37:28 UTC

It makes sense, as far as you discussed, it just wasn't quite as satisfying of an answer as I had hoped.

2018-10-04 12:37:30 UTC

I just thought maybe you were onto something, when you thought i was. And was curious.

2018-10-04 12:37:34 UTC

It might be no less correct, though.

2018-10-04 12:37:37 UTC

I'm unsure.

2018-10-04 12:38:46 UTC

People are different, theres much overlap across everyone

Its usually people join tribes based on experience / friend groups

You tend to more easily become friends with people that agree

2018-10-04 12:39:06 UTC

No ... YOU are different.

2018-10-04 12:39:10 UTC

I am just the same.

2018-10-04 12:39:12 UTC

and those might be connected to someone more radical, and they just drag in cuz on paper the left sounds morally correct

2018-10-04 12:39:31 UTC

😃

2018-10-04 12:39:32 UTC

Ya, idk. I don't know what else could create such emotions seemingly spanning over multiple topics, when the topics themselves don't present the emotion.

2018-10-04 12:39:48 UTC

as well as those "fearing" the left then being more easily pushed into alt-right groups

2018-10-04 12:39:59 UTC

the Emotions come from prolonged stress

2018-10-04 12:40:07 UTC

remember, these people embrace the ideology 24/7

2018-10-04 12:40:20 UTC

Topics themselves never present emotion.

2018-10-04 12:40:20 UTC

they don't relax

distraction is weakness, and isn't supportive of victims

2018-10-04 12:40:38 UTC

If you actively seek out horror in every detail

2018-10-04 12:40:39 UTC

You always project some kind of meaning on it.

2018-10-04 12:40:42 UTC

you'll be consumed by it

2018-10-04 12:40:50 UTC

As for the left, they are telling you what emotions they are projecting.

2018-10-04 12:41:09 UTC

It's like a forum or discussion board. Some people you can tell are wanting to discuss and pick at a topic. Others are emotional and you get the feeling they are just trying to win. Win what, idk. Imaginary cookies or something...

2018-10-04 12:41:26 UTC

Fear of the predatory male, fear of right wing authoritarianism, smug superiority, and so forth.

2018-10-04 12:41:48 UTC

queue scribble 😄 who is just here to be angry

2018-10-04 12:42:09 UTC

Ah, then you might as well ask why people get upset over words.

2018-10-04 12:42:14 UTC

Emotions make up everything people do though. Very few people can remove emotion from everything they encounter. I think people just need to do a better job being aware of when they're having an emotional bias

2018-10-04 12:42:25 UTC

Why is winning an argument satisfying and losing one feels bad?

2018-10-04 12:42:45 UTC

Much of our nervous system reacts to a verbal altercation in ways similar to physical ones.

2018-10-04 12:42:56 UTC

I just don't think that's it. It might be some factor for each issue, but I don't think it's a commanlity or the primary factor.

2018-10-04 12:42:58 UTC

Our nervous system can only project onto the situation.

2018-10-04 12:43:09 UTC

well its just an infinite cycle

"Oh theres predatory males about"
"This man opens the door for me? What could he want with that! he must be a predatory male!"
"Oh why can't men be nice to me instead?"

And men are told its nice to be friendly and hold open a door etc

2018-10-04 12:43:10 UTC

It doesn't really comprehend what is going on on a very rational level.

2018-10-04 12:43:30 UTC

@Paradox Well you seem to not have the issue so maybe you just can't sympathize with it as a concept?
