Pacific rim, you mean that movie that promotes killing oneself to kill aliens?

2018-10-14 14:02:37 UTC

but I love watching cities get flattened by disasters

2018-10-14 14:02:45 UTC

love that disaster porn

2018-10-14 14:02:47 UTC

Yeah

2018-10-14 14:02:48 UTC

how antisemetic of you

2018-10-14 14:02:52 UTC

and nice human survival stories

2018-10-14 14:02:55 UTC

good shit 👌

2018-10-14 14:02:58 UTC

also Independence Day

2018-10-14 14:03:01 UTC

@Timcast you must admit that climate change could be an excellent excuse for authoritarian policies of all kinds. In theory it could justify almost any action if spun properly.

2018-10-14 14:03:17 UTC

If it could we'd be there already, I think.

2018-10-14 14:03:26 UTC

It's a pain in the ass to get countries to listen about it.

2018-10-14 14:03:37 UTC

Everything can be an excuse by an authoritarian policy

2018-10-14 14:03:38 UTC

couldn't anything be spun for authoritarian policies ?

2018-10-14 14:03:50 UTC

i like the term watermelon for ppl who use green rhetoric to push red (socialist) policies

2018-10-14 14:03:50 UTC

@Der Kommissar true that.

2018-10-14 14:03:57 UTC

Environmentalism has always appealled to collectivists of all sorts because it's founded on the tragedy of the commons.

2018-10-14 14:04:02 UTC

Never let a disaster go to wast @Cygnus

2018-10-14 14:04:05 UTC

🍉

2018-10-14 14:04:10 UTC

@Cygnus thats what it is. just read UN agenda 13 and agenda 21

2018-10-14 14:04:11 UTC

In addition to the hyperbole about man-made climate change, there's also the hypocritical and regressive advocacy of de-industrialization. Celebrities who consume 50x more than the average person telling people to revert to pre-industrial modes of living.

2018-10-14 14:04:18 UTC
2018-10-14 14:04:24 UTC

i too like the term watermelon, but i use it to refer to an entirely different selection of people

2018-10-14 14:04:34 UTC

@Jasse agreed

2018-10-14 14:04:40 UTC

Like all 8 billion of us can live in yurts and farm organic tomatoes for sustenance.

2018-10-14 14:05:06 UTC

hmmm organic tomatoes

2018-10-14 14:05:06 UTC

@Atkins you could if forced to. 🤔

2018-10-14 14:05:10 UTC

you can really taste the bugs

2018-10-14 14:05:13 UTC

No you couldn't.

2018-10-14 14:05:26 UTC

@Atkins None of the people profiting from climate change alarmism are living carbon-negative lifestyles themselves. They clearly think it's all a big scam.

I'm anti authoritarian, that's why I'm concerned about the use of stuff like that for control

2018-10-14 14:05:48 UTC

WIthout nitrogen fertilizer and insecticides there isn't enough arable land for that many people, especially if they don't use industrial farm equipment.

2018-10-14 14:06:13 UTC

socialism has a solution for that

2018-10-14 14:06:19 UTC

vertical farms and hydroponics are neat

2018-10-14 14:06:22 UTC

*winku*

2018-10-14 14:06:32 UTC

the Great Green Wall is an interesting project too

2018-10-14 14:06:54 UTC

There's no such thing as hydroponic grain.

2018-10-14 14:07:01 UTC

built it betweeen america and mexico

2018-10-14 14:07:16 UTC

At least not on a commercial scale. Might exist in a Mars lab somewhere, but not in grocery store shelves.

2018-10-14 14:07:17 UTC

Grain isn't so good for you anyway.

2018-10-14 14:07:43 UTC

Grain makes up most of the planet's calories.
