Lmao, if you seriously care about Donald trump’s policies on Covid19 you’re dumb. He could have mitigated some of the risks better but at the end of the day it doesn’t fucking matter. We trade with the world and have our borders wide open, plus the infection rate is extremely high. Nothing could have really prepared for this covid19 shit, the world is to interdependent with trade and travel. It was the entire financial system that allowed this thing to spread. Other than that I’d blame the Chinese for hiding and lying about it
Compare his response to South Korea's and Japan's, the US Government acted way too late. Also the infection rate of the virus doesn't give any politician an excuse to say "well at least we tried".
South Korea, Japan and Singapore are also countries with globalized economies who have been impacted by the virus, yet their response to it has been way more efficient. The spread of the virus is not intrinsically linked to the immigration policies of a state.
I think Japans lying about their numbers but yeah, South Korea has done very good along with other nations to prevent it.
Doesn’t have to be linked to any particular policy but rather the real world travel between people which immigration effects
Trump in general has been a terrible president, no surprises here
I agree with everything Andrew said about the ME
in terms of implementing policy or even attempting to fight the deep state
But that has been happening since the mid 19th century, it's not anything new. And again immigration is not a determining factor when you consider that the first cases were mostly tourists.
Well that’s what I mean about open borders, not immigration, just a slow response time of banning travel. I didn’t want this to be an immigration thing
But open borders don't impact anything when the Government has the possibility of shutting down all travels coming from the outside.
Like you said it's about the slow response time.
Trump had a great opportunity to implement some heavy handed measures during this crisis, he let it go to waste except that federal reserve thing, which I don't know much about
Orban utilized this opportunity properly
Yeah I’m not trying to die for trump here, I think you know I don’t like him much. But tbh I get agitated when people blame him for the virus because I see a lot of shit libs talk about the “trump virus” which is just stupid and only meant to blame the guy they don’t like instead of blaming China or the global system. Though trump certainly hasn’t dealt with things the best
I don't care about what political pundits are saying about Trump. I care about how the Government tackles the issue, and in this instance at least his response has been, put lightly, horrendous.
And no one is saying China is not to blame. Their encouragement of wildlife trade was what caused the outbreak and their attempts to downplay it to the WHO was what eventually turned it into into a pandemic.
What should've been done according to you? The political circles I roam in are split 50/50 between this was an over-reaction vs this was an under-reaction and it is the end of the world etc.
However if you want to talk about the "global system" and its contribution to this issue do keep in mind that we have had this "global system" for the past century and it's quite impossible to change. Free trade and the globalization of the economies of the world's states has been the norm for quite a while.
I'd personally like a transition to a more Autarkic system
Well he should have banned all external travel as soon as the first case was reported in the US, maybe/maybe not allowing the transportation of US citizens in foreign countries back to the US. He should have also prioritized efforts to contain it, again as soon as the first case was reported, and not treated the whole issue like it was just a mildly worse flu season.
This video is a detailed analysis of autarkic economic models with reference to current situation: https://youtu.be/ObiVwGYdnCE

He didn't take it seriously back then, due to a combination of low information/complacency and not wanting to hinder big business during an election season
But the US, like all of the world's countries, had already been informed by the WHO about the outbreak and how serious it is by January the 10th, 10 days before the first case appeared in the US.
its just a mild flu
Centrist gang
end me
I don't mind people calling themselves the opposite gender as long as they have came to the conclusion themselves and they are not rallied into it by activists if you are talented enough to avoid a crime of being in the opposite bathroom then the investigation process into that particular crime is more expensive than the crime itself so it wont be worth investigating. https://youtu.be/zJsGNn08gdE
This one is better
