I think I need to dig into the word choice of the poem later

2018-11-06 04:41:41 UTC

what's that one book that was turned into a movie

2018-11-06 04:41:51 UTC

something ending with wallpaper

2018-11-06 04:42:07 UTC

MC is Charlie

2018-11-06 04:42:12 UTC

The boy in the striped pajamas

2018-11-06 04:42:30 UTC

perks of being a wallflower ?

2018-11-06 04:42:57 UTC

anyway, it's like that. Although the author has a ton of things to say, at the same time she doesn't want to

2018-11-06 04:43:50 UTC

so unwilling to put her voice out there that she forgot everything what made her unique

2018-11-06 04:44:11 UTC

What I miss

2018-11-06 04:44:37 UTC

even beyond death - if taken literally - she still didn't want to voice her opinions

2018-11-06 04:44:43 UTC

I could see that in the story the narrator talks about a girl who doesn’t seem to tech out and is just waiting

2018-11-06 04:45:01 UTC

And because she doesn’t reach out she’s just another random anon

2018-11-06 04:45:04 UTC

tech out?

2018-11-06 04:45:11 UTC

Reach fuck me

2018-11-06 04:45:23 UTC

Poem

2018-11-06 04:45:33 UTC

Uhm I’m tired and I need to do the analysis

2018-11-06 04:45:49 UTC

I wonder what the 'hey nonny' is in reference to

2018-11-06 04:46:05 UTC

You can just call it a reach around

2018-11-06 04:46:16 UTC

I think it’s just idle talk

2018-11-06 04:46:22 UTC

but she did write her opinions - she just didn't express herself vocally

2018-11-06 04:46:26 UTC

Like something you say out of boredom when you’ve nothing else to say

2018-11-06 04:46:37 UTC

pen like a baton

2018-11-06 04:46:46 UTC

not really tho

2018-11-06 04:47:04 UTC

this reminds me of hardcore depression / anxiety

2018-11-06 04:47:51 UTC

what she wants to express are truly deep and personal but she doesn't know how to approach it

2018-11-06 04:48:31 UTC

"best verb, right noun" also like perfectionism

2018-11-06 04:49:15 UTC

she wants to get her words just right so bad that she put herself into a situation where she is never truly satisfied with what she thinks/writes/says

2018-11-06 04:50:04 UTC

another thing with the skull - even when these thoughts / situations pass, she *is still* trying to find the right thing to say

2018-11-06 04:50:38 UTC

maybe I'm misunderstanding the poem, but that what it seems like imo

2018-11-06 04:50:48 UTC

like michael jackson and his nose

2018-11-06 04:51:09 UTC

Poems are broad and I think the head of English is a statement of how we interpret poems for a theme to prove something in school

2018-11-06 04:52:02 UTC

good point.

2018-11-06 04:52:42 UTC

Maybe anon is a statement of feminism because in the first stanza duffy mentions jobs taken up by women

2018-11-06 04:54:51 UTC

what about this perspective: all of the roles mentioned are generally what women fall into. Medical, mother, nun - or a nobody. All of these roles define women but without a certain title an argument could be made how lost the author feels without an identifier

2018-11-06 04:55:09 UTC

she has no sense of purpose or meaning for life

2018-11-06 04:55:38 UTC

hence her lack of articulating herself

2018-11-06 04:55:43 UTC

And without a calling she takes what she loves and sees nothing. She might be an amazing writer, but it isn’t expected of her.

2018-11-06 04:56:12 UTC

possibly?

2018-11-06 04:56:41 UTC

I say roles in the sense of personality traits rather than duties dedicated to a person

2018-11-06 04:56:53 UTC

like he is smart, or she is pretty

2018-11-06 04:57:38 UTC

I feel roles are expectations, and these expectations are specific duties.
