too bad, so sad

2020-03-24 22:42:46 UTC

Ventilators are the air pressure devices in a medical field, they are the glorified air pumps

2020-03-24 22:43:23 UTC

Same that provide air for aquariums or pump your tyres. But with brains that make them run a gentle cycle to not rip the lungs to shreds

2020-03-24 22:43:56 UTC

what else around the house or commonly available contains pressure senors?

2020-03-24 22:44:03 UTC

hmm

2020-03-24 22:44:09 UTC

a scale dumbass

2020-03-24 22:44:11 UTC

washing machine

2020-03-24 22:44:31 UTC

also i dunno who the fuck you think is gonna be casting anything

2020-03-24 22:44:41 UTC

and you cant make air tight fits 3d printed

2020-03-24 22:45:09 UTC

You can use CPAP as a mouthpiece, [some air pump] as a driver and all that is left is brains to control it, the most important part, then also you need 3D printed adapters to connect hoses and keep the pressure.
It is DIY-able

2020-03-24 22:45:32 UTC

@Lucienne d'Anwyl lol you can

2020-03-24 22:45:33 UTC

could also conceivable print a model using a hollow cyclinder with a coil of wire wound round

2020-03-24 22:45:35 UTC

only if you already have shit lying around

2020-03-24 22:45:52 UTC

Use a bit of acetone on the fitting to narrow the diameter down on an ABS part

2020-03-24 22:46:20 UTC

You can 3D-print loosely and then hand-file it to size

2020-03-24 22:46:32 UTC

As a last resort: duct tape

2020-03-24 22:46:36 UTC

i love the idea of turning every 3D printer controller into a ventilator

2020-03-24 22:47:39 UTC

Why? You can get many more AT tiny chips and keep your 3D printer as a printer

2020-03-24 22:47:57 UTC

@Telly_G 『⚡130』PC | Where is his chin?

2020-03-24 22:47:58 UTC

cause not everyone can DO that

2020-03-24 22:47:58 UTC

Well, there's a political meltdown here and it's ugly as heck.

2020-03-24 22:48:32 UTC

that and you are STILL thinking too much like a German @Uksio

2020-03-24 22:48:41 UTC

not everyone can do any of this

2020-03-24 22:48:49 UTC

because they dont randomly have specialized equipment lying around

2020-03-24 22:49:09 UTC

as if thousands of people in NYC and elsewhere will have time to even order and receive such parts

2020-03-24 22:49:43 UTC

i'm looking at a design that works but people can use any spare controller boards they have on hand to implement

2020-03-24 22:50:09 UTC

just like you can use a PIC, AT-Tiny, Arduino, STM or Motorolla for a MCU project

2020-03-24 22:50:36 UTC

just load Marlin witht the correct config file matching your hardware and you are good to go

2020-03-24 22:51:34 UTC

2020-03-24 22:51:34 UTC

branch Marlin and implement the ventillator control menus just like in the spec

2020-03-24 22:51:38 UTC

Well, in that setting I agree

2020-03-24 22:51:53 UTC

I have like 10 AT tiny chips lying somewhere unused

2020-03-24 22:51:59 UTC

And some soldering boards

2020-03-24 22:52:02 UTC

yeah, perfect for you

2020-03-24 22:52:12 UTC

I can make a few brains for something out of those

2020-03-24 22:52:21 UTC

yep

2020-03-24 22:53:52 UTC

i think i might spend tommorrow putting a design together and submitting it for that contest as well as creating an open source Marlin branch. surely other people have to be working on something but per usually, are jumping ahead of requirments straight to hardware

2020-03-24 22:54:59 UTC

everything i read says that if a med tech can't readily operate the unit, they can't enter the prescribed data given by the phsyican

2020-03-24 22:59:33 UTC

conservitards idea of patriotism
