Historically speaking, modern science has discovered that all humans originally came from europe, went down to Africa, evolved a bit, realized Africa fucking sucks, went back to Europe, and then evolved a LOT (specifically to have white skin).
From a strictly evolutionary standpoint, that's about where we're at.
Notedly, the black to white skin evolution, while yes technically evolution, is akin to the british peppered moth evolution, not actually any kind of "progress" evolution like becoming smarter or stronger or anything. (Like, literally exactly the same, the moths were black and are now white, to survive in an environmental change.)
