dtube functions by combining steem - a social media blockchain, even illegal content couldnt be removed ever just like there is childporn coded into bitcoin and cant be removed - which rewards users with cryptocurrency based on received likes with IPFS (interplanetary file system, so called becouse it could make the experience of the internet more reasonable even with a marscolony or something like that potentialy) which is similar to torrent except not only do you host the file (and anyone else that chooses to) but everyone contributes bandwith to whatever file is requested. If for example you can upload at a rate of 2mbit/second and 4 people request it then maybe you send it at 0.5mbit to 4 other nodes which in turn distribute it at 2mbit each to each of the 4.

and those nodes may store it for a while even if they dont pin it until that cache is emptied
