Banzai!
>be me, marine in mid 1940's
>trained to fight in Germany
>army says doesn't need marine support
>pacifictheatre.jpg
>mission involved taking shithole island
>japs fight to death, no concept of surrender
>watch wounded Japanese blow selves up
>losing enemy fixed bayonets
>officer draws sword, screams BANZAI!
>60 japs with bayonets charge into machinegun fire
>every body possible trap
>ferocity requires setting aside morals
>adopt natural desire to kill
>wake up ready to die every day
Desolate America is beautiful in a feels way.
feels like home tbh.
@Justin Burger (Major-GA) Wanna partner?
What do you mean?

AND YOU COULD HAVE IT ALL
MY EMPIRE OF DIRT
I WILL LET YOU DOWN
I WILL MAKE YOU SQUART
Daily reminder there were no major successful banzai charges so don’t give them a lot of credit for charging into machine gun fire
The credit doesn't lie in the success of their charges, but the veracity and willingness to do them
Similar to The Charge of the Light Brigade
Yes and how successful to waste manpower in futile charges
*refer to the point I just made*
They fought hard yes and booby trapped the fuck out of there islands but that veracity and willpower doesn’t matter against gunfire just the same as how willpower doesn’t matter against a nuke
The point of a banzai charge was literally to die killing as many enemies as possible
In that regard, they all complete the task as instructed and were successful
It was a last ditch lashing out against a superior enemy
Yes but there were none worth noting that’s the point that matter so stop worshiping wasteful strategy’s
A swan song
I don't think anyone is advocating for modern day banzai charges
Or even saying that they were a good tactic
No but it didn’t do shit so there’s no point in praising it so stop praising there willpower because that’s what got them nuked
They were horrifying to be on the receiving side of
Unless you had a gun and we’re competent with it
Bongo go back to Canada
You should go read what Marines had to say about fighting the Japanese in close combat
You fuck off willpower doesn’t mean shit pint up nationalism doesn’t mean shit if you listen to your commander and his orders and are competent enough to follow them that’s far more valuable
They weren't trained for it, and had to learn how to fight in that kind of combat by doing it
10/10 bongo never took military history
