I pirate all singleplayer only games, but you cant pirate multiplayer games because cracking it involves invalidating its multiplayer ability.

To me it's a timesink and escapism. I'm sure it's good entertainment and a way to bond over multiplayer games and all

Is Rust like an MMO of sorts, or is it just survival on servers sort of like Minecraft?

Survival, the only way it’s similar to Minecraft is that you mine for resources and build bases
