Oof
The army was trying to make an iron man....I’m not sure where that went...
Since they can’t get the exo skeleton right I’m sure they reached a dead end
Wasn't it project talos
Yeah, we have mechanical exoskeletons, which would make any soldier super strong, but yeah.
I don’t know, I read it such a long time ago
Yeah, F
No matter how much mechanical advantage we use, the issue is kinetic energy.
What'd'ya mean?
Say you wear an exo skeleton and jump off a 50ft ledge. The exo is still attached to you. The energy surges through the exo, but since you’re attached it’s goes through the user as well. Breaking the bones of the user
We have yet to find a way to truly absorb energy and make it not harm us
Like when you hit a base ball, and it hits the tip of the bat, your hands fucking ring and sting really bad. The energy transferred to the user
Some were testing a kind of gel that when shot by a bullet the gel absorbed the energy. It actually worked well but that was literally a big cube of it on a table. We don’t know how to make it any armor because it has to be a thick cube of it
The bullet stopped in the cube
Say you wear an exo skeleton and jump off a 50ft ledge. The exo is still attacked to you
i engliersh
So like in marvel films when captain America was hit on his shield, he was able to absorb the energy, from his super solider strength his bones didn’t break. Yes it’s a movie reference but the science is *kinda* there to why he could wield the shield and no one else could
If you can’t correct my broken English then bye Felicia
I’m on mobile and it keeps auto correcting everything
I’m finally talking legit science and you don’t wanna hear me out Justin
Smh
> finally, ge wizz, the boy who cried wolf much.
Jk
Huh
Yeah, metal isn't the greatest of armor in reference to bullets because of how it acts when impacted, but if there's enough of it in between you and the point of impact the weight of it might just negate that
Bullets yeah, you’d get pinged and pinged maybe lose balance, but still the armor would be so damn heavy
What about a metal layer on the outside , and a soft, tevlar or flak layer on the inside.
If you have a 2 inch thick metal plate fixed to a chassis so it's not pressed against your chest and you get shot there, you should be completely find
unless it's anti-armor
in which case ye fecked regardless
And weight is an issue but chassis fix that
but also chassis like that would require a lot of energy
You’d survive Justin, but you’d be knocked on your ass
and armor like that would be expected to be deployed for days at a time
I don't know, it depends on the weight of the armor
I think the metal would shred the bullet so much, that what's left would not even make it inside of the soft armor, unless it was large like a .50, then idk what you would do.
There’s so many factors it’s makes it so hard to find the solution
Because if it's a thonky boi you'd be fine
