Luckily, we have basic exoskeletons now, one paralyzed the guy was actually given one as a test.

2019-10-06 18:57:58 UTC

Also you have fit all the mechanicals into it so the armor can move properly and you have mobility

2019-10-06 18:57:58 UTC

It detects the sensors in his brain, and reads it to know what to do

2019-10-06 18:58:05 UTC

Oof

2019-10-06 18:58:17 UTC

The army was trying to make an iron man....I’m not sure where that went...

2019-10-06 18:58:39 UTC

Since they can’t get the exo skeleton right I’m sure they reached a dead end

2019-10-06 18:58:44 UTC

Wasn't it project talos

2019-10-06 18:58:54 UTC

Yeah, we have mechanical exoskeletons, which would make any soldier super strong, but yeah.

2019-10-06 18:58:55 UTC

I don’t know, I read it such a long time ago

2019-10-06 18:58:58 UTC

Yeah, F

2019-10-06 18:59:24 UTC

No matter how much mechanical advantage we use, the issue is kinetic energy.

2019-10-06 18:59:45 UTC

What'd'ya mean?

2019-10-06 19:00:54 UTC

Say you wear an exo skeleton and jump off a 50ft ledge. The exo is still attached to you. The energy surges through the exo, but since you’re attached it’s goes through the user as well. Breaking the bones of the user

2019-10-06 19:01:10 UTC

We have yet to find a way to truly absorb energy and make it not harm us

2019-10-06 19:01:45 UTC

Like when you hit a base ball, and it hits the tip of the bat, your hands fucking ring and sting really bad. The energy transferred to the user

2019-10-06 19:03:30 UTC

Some were testing a kind of gel that when shot by a bullet the gel absorbed the energy. It actually worked well but that was literally a big cube of it on a table. We don’t know how to make it any armor because it has to be a thick cube of it

2019-10-06 19:03:44 UTC

The bullet stopped in the cube

2019-10-06 19:04:01 UTC

Say you wear an exo skeleton and jump off a 50ft ledge. The exo is still attacked to you

2019-10-06 19:04:04 UTC

i engliersh

2019-10-06 19:04:40 UTC

So like in marvel films when captain America was hit on his shield, he was able to absorb the energy, from his super solider strength his bones didn’t break. Yes it’s a movie reference but the science is *kinda* there to why he could wield the shield and no one else could

2019-10-06 19:05:21 UTC

If you can’t correct my broken English then bye Felicia

I’m on mobile and it keeps auto correcting everything

2019-10-06 19:06:23 UTC

I’m finally talking legit science and you don’t wanna hear me out Justin

2019-10-06 19:06:25 UTC

Smh

2019-10-06 19:06:49 UTC

> finally, ge wizz, the boy who cried wolf much.

2019-10-06 19:06:50 UTC

Jk

2019-10-06 19:07:05 UTC

Huh

2019-10-06 19:08:01 UTC

Yeah, metal isn't the greatest of armor in reference to bullets because of how it acts when impacted, but if there's enough of it in between you and the point of impact the weight of it might just negate that

2019-10-06 19:08:35 UTC

Bullets yeah, you’d get pinged and pinged maybe lose balance, but still the armor would be so damn heavy

2019-10-06 19:08:46 UTC

What about a metal layer on the outside , and a soft, tevlar or flak layer on the inside.

2019-10-06 19:08:55 UTC

If you have a 2 inch thick metal plate fixed to a chassis so it's not pressed against your chest and you get shot there, you should be completely find

2019-10-06 19:08:59 UTC

unless it's anti-armor

2019-10-06 19:09:03 UTC

in which case ye fecked regardless

2019-10-06 19:09:20 UTC

And weight is an issue but chassis fix that

2019-10-06 19:09:30 UTC

but also chassis like that would require a lot of energy

2019-10-06 19:09:35 UTC

You’d survive Justin, but you’d be knocked on your ass

2019-10-06 19:09:39 UTC

and armor like that would be expected to be deployed for days at a time

2019-10-06 19:09:52 UTC

I don't know, it depends on the weight of the armor
