I am all for mandatory service, but the US is FARRRRRRRRRRR too big.

2019-12-02 00:59:23 UTC

We have WAY too many people for it to be feasible.

2019-12-02 00:59:27 UTC

There’s a lot of people who aren’t healthy to serve

2019-12-02 00:59:47 UTC

Tell me all the countries that have mandatory service

2019-12-02 00:59:56 UTC

That's the thing, with the draft and mandatory service, like in all countries, they force you to get in shape.

2019-12-02 01:00:03 UTC

They make it work. Especially only being 2 years.

2019-12-02 01:00:03 UTC

They don't care if you are 350lb

2019-12-02 01:00:15 UTC

No not just fat.

2019-12-02 01:00:34 UTC

Mental health is a DQ. Medical history of surgeries or injuries is a DQ.

2019-12-02 01:00:35 UTC

Israel (only for those who are Genetically Jewish by DNA) is one.

2019-12-02 01:00:41 UTC

Sweden is one

2019-12-02 01:00:46 UTC

Mental health is already a huge one that DQ a lot of people

2019-12-02 01:00:51 UTC

Finland is another.

2019-12-02 01:01:04 UTC

Notice, all these countries have really small populations.

2019-12-02 01:01:09 UTC

Isn’t South Korea?

2019-12-02 01:01:37 UTC

It would work. Wanna know why?

2019-12-02 01:01:43 UTC

THEY CUT PENSION

2019-12-02 01:02:15 UTC

They saved millions upon millions right there

2019-12-02 01:02:18 UTC

Only for males, and they have a population of 50m, only 1/6 the population of the US.

2019-12-02 01:02:41 UTC

Most mandatory service nations, is for males only.

2019-12-02 01:02:51 UTC

Like Finland aswell.

2019-12-02 01:03:02 UTC

I’d say still make it mandatory.

2019-12-02 01:03:52 UTC

They took away pension so they have the money now. People our age have absolutely no fucking life skills and literally don’t know how to fucking do anything because they wanna live in the city so they get fast food and shit

2019-12-02 01:04:00 UTC

We’re becoming absolutely pathetic

2019-12-02 01:04:04 UTC

That would mean 30 million people (the eligible number who are considered healthy and fit to join , between 18 and 35) would immediately be put into service.

2019-12-02 01:04:16 UTC

We couldnt fucking handle that AT ALL

2019-12-02 01:04:26 UTC

It’s called switching it up

2019-12-02 01:04:44 UTC

Have it be once you’re 21 you must serve the 2 years.

2019-12-02 01:04:59 UTC

Since it’s a new law, if you’re past 21 you don’t count.

2019-12-02 01:05:39 UTC

It’ll be a whole new thing starting easy.

2019-12-02 01:05:55 UTC

Don’t make people who are 35 serve the 2years

2019-12-02 01:06:27 UTC

How would we divide then among branches, like it would be quite a disparity to send some to the Coast guard, then some to the Marines, how do we decide who goes where?

2019-12-02 01:07:11 UTC

“Starting in 2021 January 1st every one that turns 21 must serve in the armed forces for 2 years, unless DQ for medical reasons, etc etc”

2019-12-02 01:07:16 UTC

Same way they choose for the draft

2019-12-02 01:07:23 UTC

They do it

2019-12-02 01:07:36 UTC

I don’t know exactly how but they know what needs filling and they fill it

2019-12-02 01:08:02 UTC

But the regular draft is only a tiny portion, not everyone, they only use the draft to keep numbers during war, not to increase numbers most of the time.

2019-12-02 01:08:16 UTC

Not all of age males get called during the draft.

2019-12-02 01:08:21 UTC

Only those selected.

2019-12-02 01:08:35 UTC

Literally the exact the same thing though...you fill what needs to be filled.

2019-12-02 01:09:22 UTC

Or they choose the branch for you, you take the asvab and they give you the job you qualify for
