Food and barter

2019-12-07 00:58:44 UTC

Yeah

2019-12-07 00:59:06 UTC

food is perishable 😑

2019-12-07 00:59:18 UTC

Makes it more valuable

2019-12-07 00:59:24 UTC

Because you all need your god damn food

2019-12-07 00:59:25 UTC

Currency is handier, because it doesn't need to be a large physical object, it's easily made and regulated aswell

2019-12-07 00:59:29 UTC

And not everyone can produce it

2019-12-07 00:59:31 UTC

no it means its impossible to circulate

2019-12-07 00:59:56 UTC

Vacuum sealing, canning, drying, smoking, salting?

2019-12-07 01:00:22 UTC

There are plenty of ways to make it last long enough to get to the belly that needs it in exchange for whatever

2019-12-07 01:00:23 UTC

Canning can last up to 20 years, so that makes a point.

2019-12-07 01:01:09 UTC

Well.....

2019-12-07 01:01:18 UTC

Actually, thats how we use to do it.

2019-12-07 01:01:47 UTC

With our modern streamlined, convienence over quality format now, they will last 6 years when stored right.

2019-12-07 01:03:48 UTC

Air-sealed dried foods can last 30 years.

2019-12-07 01:04:00 UTC

And that's your best bet.

2019-12-07 01:05:38 UTC

Jerked meat can last about 1 year.

2019-12-07 01:05:48 UTC

So any kind of jerky.

2019-12-07 01:05:55 UTC

And you can jerky any meat.

2019-12-07 01:06:06 UTC

Currency will be based on what people want

2019-12-07 01:06:31 UTC

There could be a vendor selling items and only accepts billets as currency. There could be a vendor selling clothes for food

2019-12-07 01:06:49 UTC

If a serious situation happened currency would be what ever the seller wants

2019-12-07 01:06:51 UTC

That's barter and trading as we said.

2019-12-07 01:06:57 UTC

Yep

2019-12-07 01:07:03 UTC

Thats the early form of a market.

2019-12-07 01:07:05 UTC

But I’m sayin there will not be a currency

2019-12-07 01:07:12 UTC

All civilizations started with that.

2019-12-07 01:07:19 UTC

Then moved on to currency.

2019-12-07 01:07:29 UTC

If the world genuinely perishes we will not have a currency

2019-12-07 01:07:50 UTC

Uh.....

2019-12-07 01:08:28 UTC

currency is just a guarantor of a product everyone wants

2019-12-07 01:08:34 UTC

So, we would rebuild towns, and villages, elect leaders, and install monarchs, and start over again, but we will completely lose the ability to use currency.

2019-12-07 01:09:03 UTC

trade in ur bullet bills to the bullet farm and get ur bullets
trade in ur food stamps to the food farm and get ur food

2019-12-07 01:09:06 UTC

simple as

2019-12-07 01:09:22 UTC

All currency needs to exist is a regulating authority, and for the citizens or subjects to recognize its value.

2019-12-07 01:09:59 UTC

If the world GENUINELY PERISHES, people won’t rebuild together. It will be all fucked up. The walking dead is a good example. 3 towns knew eachother and that’s it. The rest were hostile and used things differently. Currency won’t be recognized in anyway at all outside of that tiny group of people.

2019-12-07 01:10:49 UTC

In the game fallout some how they decided caps was the way to go. Being it’s a game that’s easily put in, but in reality that wouldn’t of happened.

2019-12-07 01:11:13 UTC

You can't use fantasy TV shows and movies, when I am talking about actual historical fact, 95% of the human population died in the ice age, they used recognized currency in communities before it, and developed it again after.

2019-12-07 01:11:44 UTC

Their currency was very different from others.

2019-12-07 01:11:50 UTC

Others did not accept that currency.

2019-12-07 01:11:55 UTC

Jerkybased currency 🤤
