Nice

2018-11-28 17:24:58 UTC

What a lovely face

2018-11-28 17:25:08 UTC

if you don't like how something is marketed to kids, don't buy it for them. Then convince others to not buy it.

2018-11-28 17:25:20 UTC

@Beemann enablers are still the same, and using a psychcologist to exploit a situation is the same regardless

2018-11-28 17:25:29 UTC

I'm in agreement with you grenade

2018-11-28 17:25:50 UTC

What's being exploited?

2018-11-28 17:26:00 UTC

If your kid is able to buy something without you, you need to get that shit on lock down, or teach them how to spot deceptive practices.

2018-11-28 17:26:02 UTC

Your target audience who doesn't make purchasing decisions?

2018-11-28 17:26:30 UTC

to many parents though just buy what their kids want to shut them up because it's easier

2018-11-28 17:26:52 UTC

That's the parents' fault

2018-11-28 17:26:55 UTC

^

2018-11-28 17:27:00 UTC

you should be teaching them how to make choices for themselves by the time they are starting to get financial freedoms, so around 15-16 they should be able to make some of those choices on their own.

2018-11-28 17:27:01 UTC

I feel the same toward lootboxes as well

2018-11-28 17:27:04 UTC

Like are you suggesting kids don't want sugary shit regardless?

2018-11-28 17:27:13 UTC

I was always given the line "we dont have enough money"

2018-11-28 17:27:15 UTC

who's money goes to lootboxes?

2018-11-28 17:27:31 UTC

Or "dinner or a toy"

2018-11-28 17:27:43 UTC

I learned quickly

2018-11-28 17:27:45 UTC

if the person with the money does not care about their money being used on lootboxes, who is the victim exactly?

2018-11-28 17:28:18 UTC

using psychcologists to boost sales though is scummy no matter what really

2018-11-28 17:28:24 UTC

The child

2018-11-28 17:28:27 UTC

I would say

2018-11-28 17:28:34 UTC

how is the child a victim?

2018-11-28 17:28:44 UTC

its not their money, they get what they want eventually.

2018-11-28 17:28:58 UTC

and you are talking about all marketing PERIOD.

2018-11-28 17:29:21 UTC

you know the colors used at restaurants and fast food is ones that science shows increases hunger response?

2018-11-28 17:29:27 UTC

Introducing them to gambling at a youn g age

2018-11-28 17:29:36 UTC

Yeah

2018-11-28 17:29:38 UTC

teach your kid how to spot and handle gambling

2018-11-28 17:29:40 UTC

Same with heat

2018-11-28 17:29:43 UTC

this is a PERFECT time for that

2018-11-28 17:29:52 UTC

And I agree

2018-11-28 17:30:01 UTC

the child is still not a victim tho.

2018-11-28 17:30:02 UTC

hard alcohol sales show that the top 10% make 90% of all purchases, so they tend to market toward those with impulse control issues and addictive personalities

2018-11-28 17:30:11 UTC

it could be virtual money they gamble

2018-11-28 17:30:18 UTC

infact to them it is virtual money

2018-11-28 17:30:35 UTC

and what do you propose to do about that?

2018-11-28 17:30:58 UTC

stop making games free to play?

2018-11-28 17:31:09 UTC

add in directed marketing to that based on what the tech companies know of every person and how to exploit them and I'd say that almost all of marketing is going down a very dark path

2018-11-28 17:31:27 UTC

oh it is.... but we gave that shit up willingly

2018-11-28 17:31:32 UTC

Honestly? It's tough because ultimately do I have the right to dictate how someone runs their company when I played no part in creating it
