Even more so, because they're even better at ignoring the will of the minority.

2018-12-04 04:49:17 UTC

Eh, the argument against too much democracy is that the mob obtains official authority.

2018-12-04 04:49:36 UTC

@Dusty Morgan think about this, what side do you pass on when you pass someone in a hallway? do you move to your right when passing someone? think of how ingrained that mob rule is in you

2018-12-04 04:49:40 UTC

"mob" implies unintelligent, mindless and violent.

2018-12-04 04:49:46 UTC

Like in the US we can't just have 99% of the population vote to kill someone we don't like. That's just not how it works. That'd be decided by courts and judges.

2018-12-04 04:49:55 UTC

You are telling me to choose between mob rule or dictatorship.

2018-12-04 04:49:59 UTC

We totally could, using the amendment process.

2018-12-04 04:50:02 UTC

Nothing is stopping us.

2018-12-04 04:50:08 UTC

I choose neither, I choose being in the middle.

2018-12-04 04:50:08 UTC

@Misomania That's not mob rule, that's just social convention. And for the record, I walk on the left all the time.

2018-12-04 04:50:16 UTC

What's in the middle, Dusty?

2018-12-04 04:50:21 UTC

A republic.

2018-12-04 04:50:39 UTC

Constitutional republic to be exact.

2018-12-04 04:50:39 UTC

Which means some nonzero number of the people aren't getting what they want.

2018-12-04 04:50:45 UTC

Thus, according to you, mob rule.

2018-12-04 04:50:49 UTC

;lakjfal;ksdaldfas

2018-12-04 04:50:57 UTC

@Schedrevka yes, that's bad. But that does manage to happen anyway from time to time.

2018-12-04 04:51:03 UTC

Do you even know what middle grown means. Means small government and no anarchy.

2018-12-04 04:51:07 UTC

Democracy is closer to anarchy.

2018-12-04 04:51:12 UTC

What are you withdrawing from, Dusty?

2018-12-04 04:51:14 UTC

Everyone define mob rule. This is getting stupid.

2018-12-04 04:51:20 UTC

Society, apparently.

2018-12-04 04:51:59 UTC

@pratel social conventions are a form of mob rule, just often unspoken the group follows the lead of those that do it until it becomes an automatic action they do without thinking about it. The fact that everyone is doing it makes everyone do it in a self fulfilling role

2018-12-04 04:52:00 UTC

Good night, guys.

2018-12-04 04:52:09 UTC

Mob rule is when the majority imposes their will upon the minority without any oversight or sense of justice. That is what I consider mob rule.

2018-12-04 04:52:33 UTC

STring this person up... everyone voted on it. Outlaw this profession, because we voted upon it. Who gives a damn what you want.

2018-12-04 04:52:35 UTC

I like Dusty's deefinition.

2018-12-04 04:52:58 UTC

@Misomania That's a very loose definition. I think you're stretching to get what you want.

2018-12-04 04:53:07 UTC

Democracy is to me, mob rule.

2018-12-04 04:53:10 UTC

What is the rule of a minority imposing their will upon the majority without any oversight or sense of justice?

2018-12-04 04:53:12 UTC

I'd rather call that a social convention @Misomania

2018-12-04 04:53:24 UTC

The rule of minority is consider dicatatorship.

2018-12-04 04:53:25 UTC

@Malt_Hitman oligarchy.

2018-12-04 04:53:37 UTC

Middle grown is when you keep either side from dominating.

2018-12-04 04:53:38 UTC

Though oligarchy is going to generally mean a very small group.

2018-12-04 04:53:40 UTC

Groudn^

2018-12-04 04:53:59 UTC

So is a group of 49% of a group not a mob?

2018-12-04 04:54:03 UTC

In reality, I think society is controlled by about 30% of the population at any time and another 30% just don't care.

2018-12-04 04:54:17 UTC

@pratel all of tradition, culture and behaivors extend from copying and learning social actions of those around you as a child until it becomes part of your very being to the point that it seems inseperable. even language itself is a form of mob rule to facilitate communication

2018-12-04 04:54:37 UTC

Again, You're stretching "mob rule" here. I'd rather call that a social convention.

2018-12-04 04:54:51 UTC

If there were 4,900 people with torches and pitchforks in the streets out of a town of 10,000 is that not a mob?
