Talos right here

2018-12-05 21:14:50 UTC

They say only the sith deal in absolutes

2018-12-05 21:15:00 UTC

^

2018-12-05 21:15:08 UTC

but I believe that some subset of things can be proven absolutely

2018-12-05 21:15:33 UTC

Particularly, certain forms of mathematical question.

2018-12-05 21:15:43 UTC

true

2018-12-05 21:15:50 UTC

Moral relativism in a society invariably leads to the rise of a new form of moral absolutism that challenges the predating ideology that allowed for the moral relativism to persist in the first place. I believe that is what we are seeing now with the rise of intersectionalism.

2018-12-05 21:16:30 UTC

indeed

2018-12-05 21:16:38 UTC

ascetic moral realism!

2018-12-05 21:16:42 UTC

Thus relativism should only persist to affirm the standing moral absolute, too rigid of a moral absolutism leads to it becoming anachronistic and failing entirely instead of adapting to the society.

I think my nihilism score went up because I said life has no inherent meaning except for your goals you set yourself

2018-12-05 21:17:06 UTC

What if your goals are the inherent meaning of life?

2018-12-05 21:17:09 UTC

yeah, I think the nihilism content is misunderstood by the calculator

2018-12-05 21:17:18 UTC

That is my meaning @Dvir

2018-12-05 21:17:21 UTC

gonna see if I can get a pull request merged for that

2018-12-05 21:17:33 UTC

It is, but it is a reframed perspective.

2018-12-05 21:17:45 UTC

I can change my meaning of life

2018-12-05 21:17:51 UTC

If I want to

2018-12-05 21:18:00 UTC

Just a perspective question

2018-12-05 21:18:03 UTC

Morals exist

2018-12-05 21:18:09 UTC

On a biological level

2018-12-05 21:18:16 UTC

well sorta

2018-12-05 21:18:17 UTC

Absolute morals

2018-12-05 21:18:27 UTC

But not that rigid

2018-12-05 21:18:28 UTC

asterisk asterisk asterisk

2018-12-05 21:18:33 UTC

But you're not changing the underlying meaning of you pursuing what you believe to be true, it is just that you gain a new understanding on what that exactly is.

2018-12-05 21:18:42 UTC

Well yes

2018-12-05 21:18:45 UTC

moral truth is revealed in its consequences

2018-12-05 21:18:51 UTC

What other goal can there be @Dvir

2018-12-05 21:18:54 UTC

morality only works in retrospect

2018-12-05 21:18:57 UTC

And meaning

2018-12-05 21:18:58 UTC

for everything else, you need moral philosophy

2018-12-05 21:19:45 UTC

The purpose of life is the function of the human person. Which is typically condensed as "the practice of being a rational, social animal".

2018-12-05 21:19:57 UTC

Or, said another way, "the practice and cultivation of virtue."

2018-12-05 21:20:18 UTC

Dichotomy didn't give me a philosophical leaning suggestion

2018-12-05 21:20:24 UTC

maybe I should be a philosopher

2018-12-05 21:20:27 UTC

seem to be breaking new ground.
