all you need is a financial institution that handles transactions
and will sign a contract with you that they cannot breach
AND
here is the key
every individual publisher needs to do that
Apparently, Sargon was banned from Patreon now.
yup
RIP every moderate.
Honestly, I don't see it as a) censorship resistant or b) practical, or even possible, in the jurisdictions I have lived in (4 countries in total).
I understand your reticence about blockchains.
But a) there are blockchains which are properly private and circumvent censhorship
But, then again when a door is shut, a window is open.
We can always use the Blockchain, as there's no third party involved
you don't see establishing a contractual banking relationship as possible @Heteronymus Bosch
and b) it's happening whether you like it or not.
let it happen
If Sargon can be seen as violating Patreon ToS, I don't think anyone who isn't a flaming progressive is safe.
nobody is safe
on SOMEONE ELSE's platform
this isn't rocket science
either you build your own busines - or you don't honestly have one
I'
Unless you have a few billion to launch your own bank and credit card, none of this blockchain bullshit is going to help. You still have to interface with the real world economy at some point, and at that point they'll shut you down.
This is why crypto is the future. It's supposed to be used and traded as a currency, not stock.
m not sure you are aware of the power that the state has - without court approval - over banks in some countries.
the intelligent point of interface is a contractual banking relationship
Blockchain.
for crypto to replace bank currency, the entire world would have to adopt it
Read back over the last hour of conversation...
Ik, but we can use crypto for donations.
It'll be worth it in the long run.
well, you have a point there @Heteronymus Bosch
I am not even going to attempt to solve the issues of oppression in the UK and EU
my interest is limited to enforcing the first amendment in the US
I know that you have small local banks in the US. I won't give away where I have lived, but I assure you they simply don't exist in *most* countries. And they are subject to state intervention without court approval.
I personally am of the belief, at this point that the Russian Federation is a better friend than the European Union.
the EU is tiny, just walk it.
Possibly even in the US after the patriot act.
Any payment processing institution, any institution where currency can be exchanged for another, is extremely risk averse. They will not deal with entities that they have been convinced are radical.
To the US
Read the ToS of any payment processor. Not just the big ones but the tiny ones who only work with one small bank. They all have endless rules about content.
Also, for it to be used effectively, the masses have to adopt it
And the masses listen to the established order
has anyone else here ever actually implement a payment processing system or dealt with financial institutions?
Yes
ok
why not ach
