There are good reasons why crypto in its current form, won't be the solution. Mostly to do with the majority of major banks banning the purchase of crypto with their credit cards, and BRAM regulations being changed a few months ago to label crypto companies as 'high risk'

2018-12-07 21:59:14 UTC

Bitcoin sucks.

2018-12-07 21:59:26 UTC

It is an enormous waste of resources which is useless.

2018-12-07 21:59:28 UTC

and shitcoins suck as well

2018-12-07 21:59:38 UTC

All of them?

2018-12-07 21:59:51 UTC

So you can transfer your crypto back and forth, but you can't turn it into cash to pay your taxes/rent/bills.

2018-12-07 21:59:57 UTC

I am not aware of a good one

2018-12-07 22:00:09 UTC

Well, you can at the moment.

2018-12-07 22:00:19 UTC

How does anyone cash out of crypto?

2018-12-07 22:00:30 UTC

There are several.

2018-12-07 22:01:08 UTC

It's a vulnerable point though. If I were PFAW I'd be lobbying banks to chokepoint the crypto exchanges.

2018-12-07 22:01:24 UTC

lol

2018-12-07 22:01:26 UTC

hawalla

2018-12-07 22:01:34 UTC

I bought my dog in crypto.

2018-12-07 22:01:44 UTC

But little else.

2018-12-07 22:01:53 UTC

*hawala (sp)

2018-12-07 22:02:12 UTC

That said, you will be able to spend it directly soon enough.

2018-12-07 22:02:28 UTC

soon enough to feed a family this month?

2018-12-07 22:02:40 UTC

And the aim is to make the FIAT-crypto-FIAT path as smooth as something like Patreon.

2018-12-07 22:02:43 UTC

No.

2018-12-07 22:03:04 UTC

what's the transaction loss on FRN-crypto-FRN

2018-12-07 22:03:06 UTC

Fiat->Crypto is already very difficult for US persons.

2018-12-07 22:03:16 UTC

But probably sooner than a boomer like Sargon is going to start processing his own credit card transactions.

2018-12-07 22:03:35 UTC

Some.

2018-12-07 22:03:40 UTC

Crypto->Fiat is possible with a little inconvenience and significant transaction fees.

2018-12-07 22:04:08 UTC

Yes. There are transaction fees. And?

2018-12-07 22:04:10 UTC

But it's very vulnerable overall. Easy for lobbyists to smear as 'high-risk'.

2018-12-07 22:04:20 UTC

the last crypto transaction I did was via coinbase
FRN - BTC - NMC

2018-12-07 22:04:25 UTC

iirc, it was a hassle

2018-12-07 22:04:35 UTC

and the fees were stupid

2018-12-07 22:04:45 UTC

I wanted a bit of the stuff to play with

2018-12-07 22:04:52 UTC

otherwise I would not have bothered

2018-12-07 22:04:59 UTC

So what, apart from wire transfers and setting up one's own credit card processing facilities, can someone who has been kicked off Patreon use?

2018-12-07 22:05:01 UTC

I certainly would not bother for a transaction

2018-12-07 22:05:20 UTC

Put cash in an envelope?

2018-12-07 22:05:31 UTC

fundraisers

2018-12-07 22:05:36 UTC

The creator would hold their funds and cash out monthly, I expect.

2018-12-07 22:05:57 UTC

Sell Super Male Vitality.

2018-12-07 22:06:04 UTC

if you get kicked from patreon, you can still try paypal, stripe, and a few others
failing that, you need a banking contract

2018-12-07 22:06:16 UTC

Tim said that sending him cash is pointless coz it goes missing. What if we sent him coke?

2018-12-07 22:06:22 UTC

The fees would probably end up being comparable with existing payment processors, which are not free, nor particularly efficient.
