Yes and values are the tools to sustain it
why would i WANT to sustain it?
that requires me to first value it
and you cant give an objective reason for that
To be consistent with reality
Its objective in the context of reality
no if i dont value it then me not valuing it IS reality
No its a contradiction
can an argument be made that we value different tools depending on where we live?
yeah your philosophy sure is a massive contradiction...
Okay budd
objective value 😄
Lol
This is sad
Punk, Make Russia , buddies, the only background of philosophy I grasp was the basics in critical thinking and a tiny percentage of jordan peterson. I am trying to understand but I am not seeing where I'm going wrong
That was directed at me
no make, you have proven you dont understand ANY philosophy
Okay bud
anything paticular you are struggling with @AHeroQuest
How about you read the virtue of selfishness and tell me everything wrong with it
How does it contradict itself
Make Russia, what I do not understand is why we have to choose between two *extreme views* on living life
@AHeroQuest i dont think its extreme,actualy.
hedonism anyways isnt.
ethical hedonism pretty much is our medical ethics
@AHeroQuest Extreme doesnt mean bad lol
For something not to be extreme means it contradicts its own logic
@AHeroQuest https://www.youtube.com/user/SisyphusRedeemed some basic philosophy starting with the philosophy of science itself, from https://www.youtube.com/user/AntiCitizenX the meditations are probably of interest.
long videos
i agree that extreme doesnt mean bad. Hedonism for one, espacialy ethical hedonism is extremly libertarian
not restrictive to "objective value" what you want to push
Eww Libertarians
And i dont mean libertarian free will. There is no possible world in which libertarian free will could possibly exist
No I just dislike them
Maybe it would help if I use an example of how I see this argument:
As I have already mentioned, I live in Las Vegas, where it is known for its sex. Under hedonism, the view of sex should be to have it whenever and wherever to the extreme because of how pleasurable it is. Under stoicism, sex should be seen as absolutely abhorrent and should be prohibited at any cost.
@AHeroQuest no. that is NOT the view of hedonism
thats the view of cyrenaics. Its often confused for hedonism @AHeroQuest
Objectivism says to work in your best long term interests
