I believe that using force (which includes the threat of legal or physical punishment) for exercising freedom of movement, even in a national emergency, is inherently wrong. Dangerous and risky freedom is always going to be morally better than safe control. Yes I would like people to stay home and help solve this problem but using force to *make* people do that is wrong. It is a choice of risks, are you willing to risk getting your friends or family getting sick and die because you want to go out? If so you're a fucking idiot but it is not my place or anyone else's to stop you. However if you are forcing your family or friends to expose themselves that is different. At that point you are infringing on their rights to life and liberty. Government's true role (although govt will disagree) is not to protect people from their own retardation, it is to protect their rights from being infringed by outside and inside forces.

Like I said earlier and I know it sounds harsh but no amount of lives are more important than freedom. Suggesting people stay home is a good, morally positive thing, forcing them against their will is not. The greater good is not good if it infringes on the rights of the individual
