Buddhists don't have a god, but the king does pledge to support the monasteries and the monks.
Anyway, yeah, don't like Thailand.
I could be wrong, It was an army breifing
Their history, you can't rely on them to do anything good for the region.
And yeah, I'd expect the same thing to happen if you were to walk into some pubs in England and badmouth the royal family.
Or at least, that's how it used to be.
You can even see it in their actions
>Support the Japanese incursion
>Japanese retreats
>Communists come along
>Support communists
Yeah.
I would trust snake venom to not kill me before I trust Thailand to not betray SEA at the next chance.
Thailand was whoring itself out to the US during the Communist wars
You talk like there's some grand SEA coalition.
Plenty of knives in plenty of backs over the years in that region.
Yeah, but among ourselves. Thailand spreads its cheeks for any superpower looking in.
Even fucking Philippines resisted ffs
And yet somehow, remained independant when England and France took everything else.
Malaysia might have the weirdest monarchy on the planet.
You want to endorse Benedict Arnold behavior, that's on you.
I won't change it.
I don't really have an opinion on them one way or the other I got pulled from the exercise so I don't have any first hand experience.
I just find it odd that you talk like Thailand owes the surrounding nations something.
Do you owe Thailand something?
That's rich, coming from that area.
Like I said, it's a den of vipers.
You want to endorse that behavior, like I said, you stick to that principle.
Centuries of bloodshed and infighting.
Are you telling me that such behavior was unheard of in the lands which are now Malaysia?
Are you telling me were it to happen in your region, you'd be sympathizing with your version of Thailand and defending the behavior as warranted?
You say yes to that, I'll concede the point.
Of course. It would be grossly hypocritical of me to say a nation is wrong for looking out for its own interests.
@xorgy I’m going to be writing a whole section for intellectuals like you who are too cool for school
I wouldn't expect another nation to die by our side for the sake of principle, if they could live or even thrive by not doing so.
"Hey dude, we're just here chilling with your diplomatic allies the Brits, don't mind us"
"OK"
>Assists in the Japanese sneak attack on Penang
"MOTHERFUCKER"
"Okay World War 2 is over and we're both rebuilding, Thailand, let's let bygones be bygones and start rebuilding"
"OK"
>Houses the Communist Incursion and hides its leaders
"GOD FUCKING DAMN IT"
There's a saying "fool me twice, shame on me"
You expect me to open my arms wide?
No thanks.
Okay, then don't trust them.
I concede to your principle, but I'm not about to hold a nation to its word when I know it has no intention of keeping it ... and subverts it in the worst ways possible.
That's fine. I'm simply saying, your area is as well a history of deceit, treachery and opportunism. Simply because such behavior has been more effective for the Thai recently does not make the Malaysians some untouchable paragon standing above them.
yeah international trust is the only way nations can exery power outside of military force
if there isnt much trust dont expect anyone to even come close to telling you the truth about their plans
America is lucky in that regard, sharing a friend and frenemy as borders.
