"Sadly, this is becoming a huge problem in Germany. I teach advanced history classes, and I’ve had incredibly intelligent students claim that, “Nazis aren’t as horrible as Marxist anti-German propaganda would like you to believe”. I’m not trying to be political, but, I currently have a student who’s an incredibly intelligent person, and a fanatic Christian, who supports the AfD(Alternative for Germany). He’s very popular, charismatic, and can really rally students up with his nationalist attitude. Recently speaking, I had to have a serious talk with him about a sentence he had in his paper about WW1. He said in his conclusion something like, “although, the fatherland [Germany] must reclaim all it’s lost land again, or we will have desecrated our blood rightfully here”. Note: this was his personal opinion! After class the next day I spoke with him saying I will not except that kind of speech in my class, and that I’m going to speak with his father. While saying this, he has this god-damned smirk. Anywho, I found out he lives with his grandmother, and he’s been having a really hard time this year, this kid is someone in incredible pain who’s found a very dangerous passion, not a good mix."
