where space 'begins' is a really fuzzy line
Created its own little radiation belt
Where does it kinda begin then?
idk
Technically we’re in space rn
somewhere
@
Just in a very safe part of space
@Hammond_of_Texas thank you for the link
Huh
Yeah it's a .gov nasa link
The Brits put grenade launchers on their "space" Craft
Why isn't it doin the thing
You know where it shows a link summary or let's you play a video on discord as apposed to going to the site
There’s nuclear reactors just floating around in space too
Failed Soviet designs
At least I think
There's quite a few nuclear reactors in the solar system
@Hammond_of_Texas because you suck
Obviously lol
vat is safety Dimitry?
They were poorly designed satellites using these small fission reactors that invariably melted down, so they just jettisoned the reactor part into higher orbit.
"the explosions from these grenades could be picked up by equipment on the ground which then allowed scientists to estimate the average density and temperature of the air at the heights the rocket managed to reach."
VADIM! No need to make missiles accurate just make boom bigger
That’s a pretty cool experiment
See who needs a functional design when you just keep adding thrusters to it
Blyat
me on ksp^
Back during the dust bowl people would set off missiles in the sky to try and seed rain clouds
Ive seen one of those
At a little local museum in Oklahoma
Their reasoning being “it always rains after major battles”
Unsurprisingly it went nowhere
Some county museum that probably gets a single visitor a month
I think it was just con artists trying to make easy dosh during the depression
How many dosh
Basically farmers paying them to set off fireworks in their back yard
Failed soviet rocket
Had thirty engine on the first stage
