i just think especially after it's been exposed how much google/facebook scrape from your browsing activity plus adblockers becoming more popular

human DNA is about 50% similar to a potato, but I'm pretty sure some people push that number up a bit

like, in order for websites to pay their bills they run ads

they start to get greedy and choke your browser with pop-ups and adware

so people invent adblockers

which makes them need to run more ads

so it's just a feedback loop

I still think the real ad money is in fake download links though lol

that shit is everywhere

i'd be fine with ads if they were website specific, like the old fashioned way of finding a sponsor to fit the content
