Thats part of it but they also make way more from lootboxes than making the game cost 100

2018-11-30 14:08:29 UTC

look at nes games

2018-11-30 14:08:36 UTC

60 dollars

2018-11-30 14:08:37 UTC

I didn't mind the OW loot boxes cause they were just aesthetics but like in battle front 2 it made it random that all of a sudden you could be like 4 times better then the other classes

2018-11-30 14:08:47 UTC

games havent gone up in 30+ years

2018-11-30 14:08:49 UTC

I'd rather have payed £100 for Destiny 2 than them split the game into three pieces and slowly sell it for like £150+

2018-11-30 14:08:56 UTC

it is now december in Australia

2018-11-30 14:09:04 UTC

Neat

2018-11-30 14:09:10 UTC

Paladins tried to go pay to win and almost got nuked by autists like myself

2018-11-30 14:09:21 UTC

well it's november here @Dino

2018-11-30 14:10:30 UTC

Imagine paying 40 quid for an nes game

2018-11-30 14:10:36 UTC

overall games are the same price as decades ago and have to recoup the inflation costs..... they can either charge more or break it up into season passes and loot boxes

2018-11-30 14:10:54 UTC

they choose to play smoke and mirrors into passes etc

2018-11-30 14:10:59 UTC

We're not building games in assembly my dude

2018-11-30 14:11:36 UTC

it wont be long til it's december in the UK, brace yourselves

2018-11-30 14:11:38 UTC

indy titles can charge less but aaa need the money to show stockholders that they wont lose money investing

2018-11-30 14:11:41 UTC

Game engines increase the limit on what is possible within a certain amount of effort and are the reason games prices have largely stayed consistent

2018-11-30 14:12:03 UTC

how do you justify the large team sizes to make these games?

2018-11-30 14:12:10 UTC

they cost money

2018-11-30 14:12:20 UTC

AAA companies like to make their own engines

2018-11-30 14:12:23 UTC

Simple

2018-11-30 14:12:46 UTC

Indy games are just built in unity and shit like that

2018-11-30 14:12:47 UTC

You dont own games anymore. You purchase access to licenses. It actually sucks because even old console games like SNES and N64 have expiration dates, the physical copies werent meant to last passed 20 years

2018-11-30 14:12:49 UTC

yeah I mean with games like RD2 it cost 265 Million to make

2018-11-30 14:12:54 UTC

overall id rather they just raise prices and give incremental free updates.

2018-11-30 14:12:56 UTC

dude

2018-11-30 14:13:14 UTC

thats more honest

2018-11-30 14:13:24 UTC

i played r2d2 once for liek ten minutes, walked up into this town and some husband was drowning his wife in a horse water trough and calling her a cunt

2018-11-30 14:13:26 UTC

that game is amazing

2018-11-30 14:13:30 UTC

and they would be forced to put out good shit for that price or get fucked

2018-11-30 14:13:42 UTC

omg @T e x it is fantastic.

2018-11-30 14:13:48 UTC
2018-11-30 14:13:58 UTC

They already have your money

2018-11-30 14:14:01 UTC

The thing is, games companies used to live and die by their playerbase

2018-11-30 14:14:02 UTC

only time i wish i had a console lol

2018-11-30 14:14:15 UTC

you fucked your playerbase? epic, enjoy having no sales next quarter or next game you put out

2018-11-30 14:14:17 UTC

@Scarab if you dont make a good game itll get out fast and sales will haemorrhage

2018-11-30 14:14:21 UTC

"never pay more that $20 for a videogame"
those were the days
