Imagine paying 40 quid for an nes game
overall games are the same price as decades ago and have to recoup the inflation costs..... they can either charge more or break it up into season passes and loot boxes
they choose to play smoke and mirrors into passes etc
We're not building games in assembly my dude
it wont be long til it's december in the UK, brace yourselves
indy titles can charge less but aaa need the money to show stockholders that they wont lose money investing
Game engines increase the limit on what is possible within a certain amount of effort and are the reason games prices have largely stayed consistent
how do you justify the large team sizes to make these games?
they cost money
AAA companies like to make their own engines
Simple
Indy games are just built in unity and shit like that
You dont own games anymore. You purchase access to licenses. It actually sucks because even old console games like SNES and N64 have expiration dates, the physical copies werent meant to last passed 20 years
yeah I mean with games like RD2 it cost 265 Million to make
overall id rather they just raise prices and give incremental free updates.
dude
thats more honest
i played r2d2 once for liek ten minutes, walked up into this town and some husband was drowning his wife in a horse water trough and calling her a cunt
that game is amazing
and they would be forced to put out good shit for that price or get fucked
@YeetshirtNinja how
They already have your money
The thing is, games companies used to live and die by their playerbase
only time i wish i had a console lol
you fucked your playerbase? epic, enjoy having no sales next quarter or next game you put out
@Scarab if you dont make a good game itll get out fast and sales will haemorrhage
im 21
your rep will matter more like it used to
Child
dude nintendo 64 games were like 80-100$ on new releases
I never paid less than $40 for a videogame that wasnt pre-owned before steam
ehhhhhhhhhhhh
bf5 is tanking
its half off already
@YeetshirtNinja nah I doubt lol. Look at EA, their rep is fucked but they're still selling and making profit
bf5 is a flop hatter
Plus
The audience for EA sports games are kids in high school that like sports
