to be fair the cost of living has gone up while wages have stagnated, so I'm fine with higher wages
but if the economy does eat shit and go upside down I will eat my words
Wages are a symptom not a cause
You can support increase in min wage but only from an accelerationist perspective
no, I just reckon billionaires shouldn't exist
@Shalopy My state in the Midwest has already passed a law that adjusts the minimum wage by inflation starting in 2018 and it is at $9.45 I think. It will have risen by $12 by 2022. This bad because more jobs now will ask for experience even at the low skilled entry level jobs
Or it was never easy to begin with?
My sister and I had already struggled finding part time jobs after dozens of applications possibly due to us being adults by the time we have gotten them.
As a business owner
We are gonna get fucked lol
@Harrison Good thing we aren’t increasing the rate of currency production in line with the minimum wage increase.
Nah I wont
What’s your profit margin?
I just hate that when I go out to buy coffee it'll be a dollar or two more
Yeah, that’s what I though Asdru.
I pay my contractors/designers above minimum wage
@Harrison More likely pennies on the dollar. Wage is only a fraction of what is calculated into business expenses.
*I'm talking about currently*
And keep in mind that I live in a pink state so there must have been Republicans that supported the law.
*nice try fed*
Does raising the minimum wage really effect the price of goods? I am getting mental gymnastics from leftists that support raising the minimum wage especially from people that chose to get part time jobs.
Ffs. You just don’t want to say it because it will more than absorb the wage increase.
No I've just made it clear I dont pay taxes
@Louis XIV (aka 1685Violin) It probably will, but not to scale with the wage increase.
@Asdrubal if it’s an illegal business you can just keep paying them under minimum wage then...
I don't wanna hire illegals
Guess you can’t be the owner of your own business then.
Yep, business owners want cheap labor and if they have high profit margins and are forced to raise the minimum wage, they'll just pass the costs to the customer while they cut hours and benefits. All the while lobby for more tax cuts so they could use the money to lobby for more laws to squash competition that do treat and pay workers fairly.
@Louis XIV (aka 1685Violin) Big business =/= small business
Small businesses dont get tax breaks
Or tax cuts
Is it no wonder why more millennials are supporting socialism, as in actual socialism?
I know that about the small businesses.
@Louis XIV (aka 1685Violin) Part of the cost will be passed onto the customer, but those who change their prices less will receive much more business, incentivizing them to cut costs in other places to meet price demand.
@DrRisen Is that good? I doubt it.
Or, just take a hit to profit margins to prevent an even worse one later on.
