No not really

2020-03-17 21:06:03 UTC

The purpose of deporting is to punish

2020-03-17 21:06:08 UTC

and you only punish people if they break rules

2020-03-17 21:12:39 UTC

we had a discussion about the catholic church, towards the end it was clear that we were all getting annoyed, so our side agreed to just move on. he however, dug his feet in and refused to let the topic go. Even after we had moved on to a different topic. Additionally, once I had just agreed to one of his points so that he would just stop talking about it, he still persisted. Even when you agree with him he does not move on. I have seen this type of behavior from him before, in my moderation experience I believe it would of been benfitial to issue a short mute, just 2 or 3 minutes, this is so that hopefully the perpetrator will move onto to something else by the time the mute ends, and this gives time for the side that was being annoyed to move onto a new conversation and hopefully change the topic as a whole. Moderation is more than enforcing the rules, it is making sure that there is peace.

Do you think avoiding gish galloping is mutable?

2020-03-17 21:15:11 UTC

Nor did you ever admit to agreeing with it, you offered a refutation, which I rebutted, and then you moved on without a word to slander.

2020-03-17 21:15:58 UTC

im annoyed by you clearly

2020-03-17 21:16:09 UTC

its best if you move on

2020-03-17 21:16:27 UTC

that is unless you do want moderation action taken against you

2020-03-17 21:16:38 UTC

On the grounds of what rule?

2020-03-17 21:16:42 UTC

That assumes there will be any actions against him

2020-03-17 21:17:30 UTC

moderation is more than just keeping the rules

2020-03-17 21:17:59 UTC

Extra judicial moderation I would assume is discouraged, we have a very strict owner here

2020-03-17 21:18:07 UTC

lets say you violated the no toxicity rule

2020-03-17 21:18:32 UTC

I don't believe I've been disrespectful to you

2020-03-17 21:19:05 UTC

ok but you did violate a rule

2020-03-17 21:19:30 UTC

all you are doing is digging yourself into a hole

2020-03-17 21:20:07 UTC

Ping a mod please

2020-03-17 21:20:25 UTC

I'm sure they can clear it up

2020-03-17 21:20:52 UTC

you are breaking a rule

2020-03-17 21:21:59 UTC

Can you quote the one I'm breaking?

2020-03-17 21:23:42 UTC

**@moira** has been detained.

2020-03-17 21:23:58 UTC

@Sentient23 Thank you for pinging.

2020-03-17 21:24:17 UTC

@Eoppa Next time something like this happens, ping me.

2020-03-17 23:55:45 UTC

What's a good argument for objective morality?

2020-03-17 23:56:24 UTC

why are you asking

2020-03-17 23:57:39 UTC

Some guy said Evil doesn't exist because "muh moral subjectivity"

2020-03-17 23:57:53 UTC

It was on a different server

2020-03-17 23:58:26 UTC

well yeah there is no evil if morality is subjective

2020-03-17 23:58:38 UTC

its a matter of popularity

2020-03-17 23:59:24 UTC

So theoretically speaking, murder would be considered moral?

2020-03-17 23:59:37 UTC

it will to you

2020-03-17 23:59:41 UTC

if you say so

2020-03-17 23:59:59 UTC

I'm an Aristotelian Catholic. When you refer to a father, we can speak as to a good father based on its form. Goodness comes from being.

2020-03-18 00:00:04 UTC

its just an unpopular opinion

2020-03-18 00:00:44 UTC

the fact objective morality exists should be enough proof that god exists

2020-03-18 00:01:40 UTC

Because God exists as maximally perfect, he as well is maximally good.

2020-03-18 00:02:10 UTC

he is perfectly moral

2020-03-18 00:02:34 UTC

Moral is a touchy word, especially around deontologists

2020-03-18 00:02:39 UTC

morality can be both but most of it is objective

2020-03-18 00:02:56 UTC

like wasting water isn't that immoral when you live in an area where there is a lot of it but it's immoral in the desert
