How is it harmful?

2020-02-17 16:28:59 UTC

To discover the truth is harmful

2020-02-17 16:29:01 UTC

@moira Come <#587029563863990282>

2020-02-17 16:29:20 UTC

I wouldn't say it all stems from religon.
I'd say Traditions stem from necessity.

2020-02-17 16:29:59 UTC

There is no inherent necessity for traditions

2020-02-17 16:30:08 UTC

what are you talking about

2020-02-17 16:30:15 UTC

necessity in itself must be connected to something which by its very nature, demands certain things we deem to be traditions - this is religion

2020-02-17 16:30:33 UTC

we are the sum of our history and values and many of those values have come from religion

2020-02-17 16:30:53 UTC

Nuclear family is highly effective, it's cooperative.
Marriage has a lot to do with structured inheritance.

2020-02-17 16:31:11 UTC

*Traditional Family*

2020-02-17 16:31:28 UTC

We aren't talking just marriage, it is the Traditional family that needs to be upheld

2020-02-17 16:31:40 UTC

If divorces are at 50% that isn't being done

2020-02-17 16:32:29 UTC

I didn't say it wasn't under attack, I was saying that nuclear family is born out of necessity.

2020-02-17 16:34:33 UTC

@Deleted User So what do you suggest? To force people to stay together?

2020-02-17 16:35:54 UTC

You can ensure that people stay together without force

2020-02-17 16:36:25 UTC

How

2020-02-17 16:37:05 UTC

encouraging religion will ensure people arent degenerates and are willing to committ to marriage, and will avoid actions that would've destroyed their marriage if they took those actions etc

2020-02-17 16:37:57 UTC

Believe me, at first, everyone is willing to commit to marriage. But there are many cases in which the wife is abused by the husband, or the opposite. Then you cannot expect people to torture themselves and be abused for the rest of their lifespan, lol.

2020-02-17 16:38:34 UTC

A husband and wife may lose thier interest in one another, but never their child, it's what'll hold it together.

2020-02-17 16:38:34 UTC

@Koninos No, but you do understand why people are getting divorces right?

2020-02-17 16:38:39 UTC

She wouldnt be abused by her husband if her husband was religious

2020-02-17 16:38:41 UTC

I do.

2020-02-17 16:38:52 UTC

People are getting divorces not because men and women are beating eachother more

2020-02-17 16:38:58 UTC

not because there is more domestic abuse

2020-02-17 16:39:03 UTC

but because of sexualization

2020-02-17 16:39:11 UTC

and "marriage doesn't matter"

2020-02-17 16:39:20 UTC

and because people lost religious conviction

2020-02-17 16:39:23 UTC

I don't find it right all times, but I don't find forcing people to stay together right either.

2020-02-17 16:39:39 UTC

they would rather go off and have unlimited sex with people than stay with a spouse and kid

2020-02-17 16:39:41 UTC

It is good to encourage marriage commitment though.

2020-02-17 16:39:59 UTC

That's not what our societies do though

2020-02-17 16:40:04 UTC

because we are so sexualized

2020-02-17 16:40:08 UTC

that nobody gives a shit

2020-02-17 16:40:12 UTC

so degenerate

2020-02-17 16:40:19 UTC

And it doesn't always happen for pleasure

2020-02-17 16:40:22 UTC

It happens for money too

2020-02-17 16:40:36 UTC

"Together through thick and thin"

2020-02-17 16:40:57 UTC

One of my mother's friends was paid by the state when she had a divorce, because she got her daughter, obviously.

2020-02-17 16:41:07 UTC

That is pathetic

2020-02-17 16:41:11 UTC

Yes, it is.

2020-02-17 18:24:07 UTC

I think people, as a part of the human condition, take solace in symbols and what they stand for. The things that religion stands for are absolutely disgusting to me when analyzed past the niceties of the initial introduction
