he knows the battle is just starting and they are far from prepared for it
and putting great effort in making sure no one else is either
german media be like "we should care more about the current troubles of our health care system than some virus that is far far away" <:HonkHonk:566814473646768128>
@Holy Intersectional Inquisition Our media is saying the same thing
I was told today that it's no problem, it's just a cold
I said, how many Colds have to survived during your life?
Well Corona has a death rate of 4%
We'll see how accurate those numbers are
and basically the people following this thing closely say that the attempted containment has failed
just a cold
walk it off, grandma
...man. Just had someone in another Discord trying to downplay the situation in China. Saying it's just SARS all over again. I pointed out that in the span of a month, Novel Coronavirus has killed about as many people as SARS did in eight.
Seems to back up the Shenzhen bit.
@MountainMan Dude, Shenzen is not some random city. That's THE city
Right in the Hong Kong delta
Yeah, it's specifically the tech manufacturing and shipping hub for all of China.
Odds are 75% or more of your PC was either produced or shipped through Shenzhen at some point.
Same with your phone.
This will *ravage* China's economy.
Yeah, most tech companies have pulled overseas workers out of there already. We have travel restrictions to China in place right now
Likely to start impacting the price of phones, motherboards, graphics cards, and more soon.
yeah, I've simply stopped arguing with fools who think this is "just the flu"... the impact is huge
Yeah. Even if the death toll doesn't get past the four digits, the impact on the world economy will be huge.
And I honestly expect five digits minimum once it starts really going in Africa.
Still nothing on the Spanish Flu, but it's gonna be the worst since then, I think.
Spanish Flu was just a normal flu combined with world travel
And so far, this has a higher casualty rate, with no vaccine available for this outbreak
I mean, Spanish Flu was a bit more than that. Had what, like a 15% mortality rate?
Like I said, it's no different than a normal flu virus.
Gotta remember what year it was and that there wasn't flu vaccines
So maybe higher hygiene standards will help, but that's it
Coronaviruses are more damaging, and this has become globalized with no Vaccine, just like Spanish flu
spanish flu was malnourished niggas dying from flu bc wwi
^ that was a big part as well
Not like modern diets are making people much healthier today
Look. Just keep it out of the country and failing that, maintain quarantine procedures and we should be fine. China is fucked due to population numbers and poor standards of living.
We ought to have more success at fighting it than the chinks
But seriously just keep it out of the US for as long as possible and fycking start vaccination research
Start pouring funding into that shit
But why do we need quarantining? Haven't you heard? There's no need to be concerned about a virus that's in China. Pay no mind to the current patients...
