of course not, nobody thinks that

2019-01-15 19:30:35 UTC

Nietzsche is famous still because he was among the first to acknowledge the death of god and to offer modern solutions to the issue of purpose

2019-01-15 19:31:01 UTC

For some reason, nihilism tends to attract edgy teens who simply equate the two together

2019-01-15 19:31:10 UTC

so im happy you're not one of them

2019-01-15 19:31:25 UTC

thinly veiled nihilism is the state in which most exist

2019-01-15 19:31:41 UTC

I think the acknowledgement of it is a step forward for those edgy kids

2019-01-15 19:32:01 UTC

I was there when I was a teenager

2019-01-15 19:32:51 UTC

Trump lied

2019-01-15 19:32:52 UTC

That story made my day

2019-01-15 19:33:47 UTC

I casn't tell if it's fr

2019-01-15 19:34:03 UTC

Next Trump will say "it's raining cats and dogs"

2019-01-15 19:34:20 UTC

I don't particularly like trump, but good on him for buying an American feast for the national camps

2019-01-15 19:34:21 UTC

wtf

2019-01-15 19:34:30 UTC

I used to support trump but he lied to me wtf

2019-01-15 19:34:46 UTC

Bro we were discussing post-nihilism here

2019-01-15 19:34:57 UTC

"Three pinnochios, dogs and cats do not rain" - WaPO fact check

2019-01-15 19:36:54 UTC

Personally, I think that if people don't read into existentialism or put effort into understanding it themselves it is used as "muh.. life has no meaning and stuff so i dont wanna study"

2019-01-15 19:36:57 UTC

speaking of nihilism

2019-01-15 19:37:09 UTC

I think it's actually good that life has no set purpose

2019-01-15 19:37:21 UTC

if life did have a purpose then you wouldn't truly have free will

2019-01-15 19:37:25 UTC

That is the post-nihilist perspective

2019-01-15 19:37:31 UTC

Indeed

2019-01-15 19:37:32 UTC

Life's purpose would vary upon the individual imo

2019-01-15 19:37:41 UTC

but it is very difficult to make purpose for oneself

2019-01-15 19:38:08 UTC

Yeah, and many aren't satisfied with that

2019-01-15 19:38:46 UTC

no I think dissatisfaction is the result of failure in that case

2019-01-15 19:39:26 UTC

when people go through nihilism and don't have what it takes they become destructive or absurdist

2019-01-15 19:40:16 UTC

Reality is subject and based off of perception right

2019-01-15 19:40:22 UTC

well we do have he 'objective reality'

2019-01-15 19:40:38 UTC

but everyone's perception would alter the way they viewed the world

2019-01-15 19:40:53 UTC

in that case purpose would be up to the individual

2019-01-15 19:41:16 UTC

No you're doing it wrong if you think subjective reality is more important than objective reality

2019-01-15 19:41:23 UTC

I don't think it is

2019-01-15 19:41:41 UTC

objective reality is obviously more important

2019-01-15 19:42:06 UTC

but if everyone views the world differently naturally their purpose would be varied

2019-01-15 19:42:20 UTC

yes

2019-01-15 19:42:58 UTC

in this way objective reality is where true purpose lies, and individuals' subjective reality is a means to an end

2019-01-15 19:43:08 UTC

also this is based off of my own speculation I haven't studies philosophy or anything so I might make a lot of mistakes

2019-01-15 19:44:07 UTC

I think that choosing one's own meaning is kinda dissatisfying even when you are 'successful' , but the real problems is that if we select a meaning in life like we choose something small at an all-you-can-eat or buffet, then the very fact that we are choosing reduces what could have been a larger purpose to something that is much smaller
