it just doesn't seem logical

2019-01-22 01:07:38 UTC

but if they weren't opposed to the wall then why are they so opposed now?

2019-01-22 01:07:47 UTC

the democrats used to care about border security

2019-01-22 01:07:50 UTC

now they don't

2019-01-22 01:09:20 UTC

? Democrats are almost universally on the record demanding improved technology at the border. Drones, cameras, support for border patrol are all espoused by democrats

2019-01-22 01:09:31 UTC

Reinforcing fences that work, too

2019-01-22 01:09:58 UTC

The difference is now republicans think a wall is necessary for security, and there’s very mixed analysis on that

2019-01-22 01:11:22 UTC

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/politics/2019/01/15/republicans-spent-two-years-resisting-trumps-border-wall-what-changed/ in 2017, 69 out of 292 republicans in congress wanted the border wall, or put here, approved of Trump’s budget requests. Why do you that has changed?

2019-01-22 01:12:15 UTC

Democrats are being vilified as anti-border security. That is untrue, unhelpful, and distracting from the strange 180 republican leaders have done on the border wall demand.

2019-01-22 01:17:01 UTC

I just think you gotta think about why during 2 years of all republican everything, Trump never appeared on TV demanding a wall, and republican leaders weren’t interested. Now, suddenly they can’t initiate the budget process and it’s a requirement? It’s a hostage situation. The government, and all those workers (800,000 I think?) are being unpaid because of a republican demand they could have gotten done earlier. The goal is not to get the wall, the goal is to know that they can shut down the government every time they want something. Fuck that.

2019-01-22 01:17:12 UTC

the israeli wall stopped 99.9% of crossings

2019-01-22 01:17:20 UTC

the hungarian wall stopped 99.9% of crossings

2019-01-22 01:17:25 UTC

how is it not a good thing

2019-01-22 01:17:49 UTC

Do you know how big the Hungarian wall is?

2019-01-22 01:17:51 UTC

I don’t

2019-01-22 01:19:45 UTC

I looked it up, the hungarian wall is massive about 200 miles

2019-01-22 01:20:26 UTC

Which is approximately 10% of the southern border lmao, which, by the way, a huge chunk of which is private property, and I’m not cool with the government seizing property

2019-01-22 01:23:03 UTC

Also, and people here might just think “good,” but increasing walled areas have caused migration to shift, increasing migrant death, and I don’t fuck with that.

2019-01-22 01:23:27 UTC

But again all of this is irrelevant, the wall is a power play against democratic control of the house.

2019-01-22 01:24:41 UTC

okay

2019-01-22 01:28:47 UTC

Hello

2019-01-22 01:28:47 UTC

Also I don’t get your name are you anti republican @Colonel Sanders™

2019-01-22 01:28:51 UTC

Hi!

2019-01-22 01:29:06 UTC

red as in commies

2019-01-22 01:29:29 UTC

Oh lol, people gotta choose more creative colors, there’s too much overlap

2019-01-22 01:29:32 UTC

I would be okay with building a wall if we made other sweeping immigration reforms

2019-01-22 01:29:33 UTC

yea

2019-01-22 01:29:40 UTC

yea

2019-01-22 01:29:54 UTC

Nobody should be allowed in the country undocumented

2019-01-22 01:29:55 UTC

ever

2019-01-22 01:30:05 UTC

I mean

2019-01-22 01:30:06 UTC

Agreed visitor. I think a wall is stupid but if we can get some great things out of it that would be sick

2019-01-22 01:31:37 UTC

Many illegal immigrants (if I recall correctly) come from visa overstays

2019-01-22 01:31:45 UTC

yea

2019-01-22 01:31:47 UTC

around 50%

2019-01-22 01:32:03 UTC

or 27% if i remember correctly

2019-01-22 01:32:33 UTC

Yeah a big chunk from Spain

2019-01-22 01:32:41 UTC

Damn European Mexicans!

2019-01-22 01:33:39 UTC

So they have documents but they become illegal when they don’t leave

2019-01-22 01:33:51 UTC

Mhm

2019-01-22 01:34:52 UTC

Which do you think would be a cheaper way to reduce the number of illegals: building, operating, and maintaining one of the biggest borders that exist between countries, or doing immigration reform to take care of visa overstays?
