We have Medicaid
Yes
That’s irrelevant
Then why’d you show that second graph
Infact that supports my idea of private is more efficient
As even though excess demand is there it actually shows the wait times being low
If the second graph shows that our universal healthcare system for seniors works best
which is great as without Medicaid we would have lower wait rimes
Nope
Ye
Dude read the first graph firs
The title
Secondly Medicare creates excess demand which can lead to shortages
Even with this the us healthcare system has the lowest waiting times
Which is amazing
And shows without it, it could be lower
Yeah it also provides seniors with healthcare that a lot of them wouldn’t be able to afford
Yes
Which I’m not arguing here
I’m saying private is far better
And the first graph says “percent of people who could **not** get an appointment within two months”
Yeah
This means 39% in Canada could not get an appointment within two months
which proves the point of long waiting lines
Yeah Canada is messed up
Compared to 6% in the US
Notice how all single payers are worse off in waiting times
Compared to the private ones
Nobody denies Canada’s long wait times tho I just don’t think it’s ONLY due to universal healthcare since there are some countries with universal healthcare who have shorter wait times
Or hybrid systems ( France , Germany , Netherlands and Switzerland)
Canada doesn’t have uni
It has single payer
It’s hospitals are inefficient state run
That’s kinda sweet you care about older people
It’s due to single payer, the free rider problem created by the excess demand of such “free” products
And the inefficiencies of state run hospitals
cause the shortages in Canada
By shortages we mean waiting times
@chad areas like Germany have a strong private sector
And health insurance mandated
