I think religion comes a lot from lessons and stories past down that became legend, then myth, then religion

Like I said there has been healing from the word of God its just very hard to verify and thus use as proof. It would have to be from the horses mouth.

And a lot of the things in various religions, like the kosher diet or no meat on fridays or whatever, were actually historically useful for survival or health (like to prevent overconsumption of certain animals)

there's a difference between developing a mathematical model solely because you're curious about a situation, and just coming up with a story

People like you have been around for 100s of years. The bibles reputation precedes itself. There's a reason its the #1 read book in the world. If it was obsolete and false it would've been lost to time and destroyed under the numerous attempts at its destruction.

huh? religious texts have been around before the bible, and have been questioned since their existence

Well those bear its fruits in what we see today versus what we see coming out of the Bible which is quite contrary

They all believe as much as you do that their religion is the true one

Everywhere

China and north korea both had state intervention into religion

Yet they still persist

Africa is mostly Christian or Muslim

People are willing to die for what they believe in because there's something there that's more worth it in the end.
