Just because a lot of people believe it doesn't mean it's true

2019-02-18 01:51:52 UTC

Because then Islam and Hinduism and Buddhism would also be true

2019-02-18 01:52:10 UTC

i personally find religion to be on the same lines as alcohol was in the past or drugs are now

2019-02-18 01:52:12 UTC

life is tough

2019-02-18 01:52:18 UTC

eh I mean it's not even a factual matter, it's the moral recommendations I think are interesting, and that's not verifiable

2019-02-18 01:52:23 UTC

if it helps people to get through it, why not

2019-02-18 01:52:27 UTC

yeah totally h

2019-02-18 01:52:35 UTC

I think religion comes a lot from lessons and stories past down that became legend, then myth, then religion

2019-02-18 01:52:47 UTC

Like I said there has been healing from the word of God its just very hard to verify and thus use as proof. It would have to be from the horses mouth.

2019-02-18 01:53:05 UTC

Because people believe what they hear from others, especially if it explains something other things can't

2019-02-18 01:53:54 UTC

So for example the big bang never happened then by your logic

2019-02-18 01:54:13 UTC

And a lot of the things in various religions, like the kosher diet or no meat on fridays or whatever, were actually historically useful for survival or health (like to prevent overconsumption of certain animals)

2019-02-18 01:54:21 UTC

there's a difference between developing a mathematical model solely because you're curious about a situation, and just coming up with a story

2019-02-18 01:54:26 UTC

the difference is the math

2019-02-18 01:54:28 UTC

@Techigami what do you mean

2019-02-18 01:54:53 UTC

I didn't say that because no one saw it that it didn't happen

2019-02-18 01:55:11 UTC

I say it's that you shouldn't believe something solely on faith and testimonials

2019-02-18 01:55:19 UTC

you should think critically and look for evidence

2019-02-18 01:55:49 UTC

What's wrong with testimonials? It's recorded history

2019-02-18 01:57:31 UTC

I mean

2019-02-18 01:57:49 UTC

Independent testimonials of specific events are useful

2019-02-18 01:57:53 UTC

wait what testimonials are ya talkin about

2019-02-18 01:58:08 UTC

But "I believe the bible too!" is not worth as much

2019-02-18 01:59:04 UTC

People like you have been around for 100s of years. The bibles reputation precedes itself. There's a reason its the #1 read book in the world. If it was obsolete and false it would've been lost to time and destroyed under the numerous attempts at its destruction.

2019-02-18 01:59:20 UTC

So would the Quran

2019-02-18 01:59:24 UTC

or the Torah

2019-02-18 01:59:30 UTC

if that was true

2019-02-18 01:59:56 UTC

Religions persist because people like you believe them, which isn't your fault but is just a fact

2019-02-18 02:00:06 UTC

huh? religious texts have been around before the bible, and have been questioned since their existence

2019-02-18 02:00:10 UTC

Well those bear its fruits in what we see today versus what we see coming out of the Bible which is quite contrary

2019-02-18 02:00:28 UTC

wait what do you mean by that I'm confused

2019-02-18 02:00:29 UTC

People like you in Saudi Arabia, people like you in Israel, people like you in India

2019-02-18 02:00:40 UTC

In china

2019-02-18 02:00:43 UTC

North korea

2019-02-18 02:00:46 UTC

Africa

2019-02-18 02:00:47 UTC

They all believe as much as you do that their religion is the true one

2019-02-18 02:00:57 UTC

Everywhere

2019-02-18 02:00:57 UTC

China and north korea both had state intervention into religion

2019-02-18 02:01:07 UTC

Yet they still persist

2019-02-18 02:01:09 UTC

Africa is mostly Christian or Muslim

2019-02-18 02:03:07 UTC

People are willing to die for what they believe in because there's something there that's more worth it in the end.
