Faith is a very intense thing

2020-02-20 10:20:23 UTC

And a thing of trust and intense belief

2020-02-20 10:20:29 UTC

It's hard for people to reconcile with the world not having all the answers they want. But this religion that claims to? I can see why it's appealing.

2020-02-20 10:20:29 UTC

True

2020-02-20 10:20:36 UTC

Cant expect everyone to be agnostic

2020-02-20 10:20:36 UTC

It's mostly all about the feelings

2020-02-20 10:20:48 UTC

And some people try putting logic into faith

2020-02-20 10:20:57 UTC

We naturally have a fear of things unknown to us

2020-02-20 10:20:58 UTC

I dont 😄 never do. I just dont expect them to try and convert me when they ask my opinion

2020-02-20 10:21:02 UTC

But when you start putting logic into religion, it falls off hard

2020-02-20 10:21:14 UTC

I used to be a bit more like that I guess but I've kind of relaxed I guess I dunno

2020-02-20 10:21:19 UTC

I take it person by person

2020-02-20 10:21:39 UTC

If someone is intolerant towards me, I will return the favor.

2020-02-20 10:21:42 UTC

Y'all motherfuckers ever take a philosophy class?

Knowledge, defined epistemologically is justified true belief.

That's three points it has to satisfy, with religion, most of the time you can only satisfy the "belief" part. So religion only really satisfied 1/3 of the quality of knowledge.

They can try to justify it, but justified thought with religion is really easy to pick apart.

2020-02-20 10:21:43 UTC

Well if you're expecting them to try and concert you thats kind of assuming their intent
They may actually be curious, or maybe they want to teach you some of what they know

2020-02-20 10:21:56 UTC

Teaching someone your own way doesnt mean they gotta follow it

2020-02-20 10:22:04 UTC

Only that they can understand it better maybe

2020-02-20 10:22:19 UTC

Some people also just don't know anything else

2020-02-20 10:22:25 UTC

And that is especially true for say, the USA

2020-02-20 10:22:35 UTC

Where over what

2020-02-20 10:22:37 UTC

70% are christian?

2020-02-20 10:22:40 UTC

Nah, it's the same in South Asia

2020-02-20 10:23:07 UTC

Usually, the average religious perso. Doesn't know any better or doesn not care to

2020-02-20 10:23:19 UTC

There's a lot of ignorance and pride

2020-02-20 10:23:28 UTC

The only time they go ahead to disporve a religion is to better their own religion

2020-02-20 10:23:30 UTC

Exactly

2020-02-20 10:23:37 UTC

There are some who know nothing else
And then those who go through all 10 miles of being raised a ceritan way being heavily non believing at some points, and turning back around to a system of belief

Individuals with a very strong sense of themselves and a very strong caring nature often times

2020-02-20 10:24:10 UTC

There sure can be a lot of ignorance but there also is a lot of thought into some of it

2020-02-20 10:24:12 UTC

Ignorance isn't a crime to me, neither is pride. These are things that have to be overcome. But if someone is an asshole, I think that's different. There's assholes regardless of religion

2020-02-20 10:24:36 UTC

Yeah

2020-02-20 10:25:03 UTC

I agree

2020-02-20 10:25:06 UTC

Religious behaviour is kind of based on a fear-impulse IMO.

If a caveman hears a rustling in a bush that could either be the wind or a predator, the caveman that assumes predator has a higher chance of being more safe and a higher chance of reproducing and passing on that default-fear assumption. I think that's the beginning of religious thought and behaviour from an evolutionary standpoint.

2020-02-20 10:25:40 UTC

That's what I was saying earlier, Steve. It's easy to accept a religion that has the answers you want to what you can't understand. And we have a general fear of the unknown.

2020-02-20 10:25:52 UTC

Yeah but the feeling of perceived safety is different from that of faith

2020-02-20 10:26:07 UTC

Yeah i think its more of what farunel says

2020-02-20 10:26:11 UTC

I also don't think there really is any one reason people are religious

2020-02-20 10:26:16 UTC

Yes

2020-02-20 10:26:29 UTC

There's different reasons, overarching reasons that many have, special cases, etc

2020-02-20 10:26:32 UTC

It's just like everything else

2020-02-20 10:26:37 UTC

If i had librarians "all of this" gif I'd use it
