It is one both ways
Regardless of that isolated incident
I had a good conversation with a heavily christian woman about evolution. She was very much disbelieving in it basically followign the logic of "I don't see how we came from monkeys". When I explained to her that we really did not, and that it isn't how evolution works and we come from a common ancestor, she actually told me that made more sense and wanted to research it more.
I gained a lot of respect for her over that
She was already pretty damn nice. But open minded as well, even being really religious? I can respect the fuck out of that.
Yeah
In a world where everyone just wants to be correct
Open people willing to have a discussion and more past the point actually learn from you and you them
Are truly respectable people
But it's also a two-way street in that regard. If you aren't open minded but are trying to change other people's minds, that just makes you a hypocrite.
But thats the thing, No one "knows god exist" but they act like they do
What
Ah ok
Well that's just part of their faith
I think there's a lot into it psychologically tbh
Faith is a very intense thing
And a thing of trust and intense belief
It's hard for people to reconcile with the world not having all the answers they want. But this religion that claims to? I can see why it's appealing.
True
Cant expect everyone to be agnostic
It's mostly all about the feelings
We naturally have a fear of things unknown to us
I dont 😄 never do. I just dont expect them to try and convert me when they ask my opinion
But when you start putting logic into religion, it falls off hard
I used to be a bit more like that I guess but I've kind of relaxed I guess I dunno
I take it person by person
If someone is intolerant towards me, I will return the favor.
Y'all motherfuckers ever take a philosophy class?
Knowledge, defined epistemologically is justified true belief.
That's three points it has to satisfy, with religion, most of the time you can only satisfy the "belief" part. So religion only really satisfied 1/3 of the quality of knowledge.
They can try to justify it, but justified thought with religion is really easy to pick apart.
Well if you're expecting them to try and concert you thats kind of assuming their intent
They may actually be curious, or maybe they want to teach you some of what they know
Teaching someone your own way doesnt mean they gotta follow it
Only that they can understand it better maybe
Some people also just don't know anything else
And that is especially true for say, the USA
Where over what
70% are christian?
Nah, it's the same in South Asia
Usually, the average religious perso. Doesn't know any better or doesn not care to
There's a lot of ignorance and pride
The only time they go ahead to disporve a religion is to better their own religion
Exactly
There are some who know nothing else
And then those who go through all 10 miles of being raised a ceritan way being heavily non believing at some points, and turning back around to a system of belief
Individuals with a very strong sense of themselves and a very strong caring nature often times
