Other important notes from that article:

2018-12-28 01:46:00 UTC

The majority of sexual offences in Canada are of a
less severe nature. Victimization data indicate that
most sexual assaults involved unwanted sexual
touching (81%) rather than more severe sexual
attacks (19%). Among the incidents that came to t
he attention of police in 2007, the large majority
(86%) were level 1, the least se
rious form of sexual assault.
ƒ
The 2004 GSS showed that sexual victimization ra
tes were dramatically higher among those aged 15
to 24, compared to those 55 and over. Additionally, ov
er half of the sexual assault victims reported to
police in 2007 were children and youth under the age of 18.
ƒ
When asked why they did not tell the police about the
sexual assault, a majority of victims (58%) said
that they did not report the incident because it was not important enough.

..

2018-12-28 01:46:32 UTC

Unfortunately the best I can come up with as a statistic is to extrapolate from those numbers

2018-12-28 01:46:44 UTC

Anything more concrete I have would only be from police data

2018-12-28 01:46:51 UTC

which just isn't what we're looking for

2018-12-28 01:47:52 UTC

So what I'd suggest is 20% of that 2 in 100 yearly sexual assault are of a severe nature beyond touching

2018-12-28 01:48:56 UTC

And that the yearly number should be multiplied by ~15 or so to get a lifetime rate since it drops off by age

2018-12-28 01:49:25 UTC

which leaves us at 1 in 20 or so

2018-12-28 01:49:53 UTC

lifetime

2018-12-28 01:50:18 UTC

But that has quite the error margin since it is more back of napkin stuff than anything scientific. And my assumption that I use to jump from yearly to lifetime is woefully poor.

2018-12-28 01:50:40 UTC

But as far as I can tell, lifetime data in Canada is simply not available

2018-12-28 01:51:01 UTC

At least for stuff that isn't based on police reports

2018-12-28 01:51:21 UTC

I think that teacher's claim is quite extraordinary

2019-01-01 14:01:58 UTC

@everyone we have a new Men Are Human Article!

2019-01-03 12:49:42 UTC

Site has been slightly redesigned. Sorry for any hassles with it. You can't really redo a site like this offline.

2019-01-03 15:49:44 UTC

Excellent article and content nonetheless.

2019-01-03 17:45:22 UTC

Thanks a lot.

2019-01-03 17:46:07 UTC

If you have a story or an article of your own, let me know. It can be in private, if you prefer to be anonymous. I don't mind.

2019-01-04 07:02:25 UTC

I've always liked the one on our subreddit, Short and sweet, gets the message across, easy to draw,

2019-01-04 08:17:43 UTC

@goodmod It is quite good, and has some recognition already. Maybe we should use it. Personally I wanted to get the female symbol involved too, but maybe we can draw it as a tail?

2019-01-04 08:17:49 UTC

Like:

2019-01-04 08:19:07 UTC

But without the extra arrow

2019-01-04 08:20:02 UTC

Personally I'm not a fan of using the female symbol. Whereas we don't oppose *actual* rights for women (not privileges), we don't advocate for them either

2019-01-04 08:42:41 UTC

The idea kinda is to bring the male and female together into an equal movement.

2019-01-04 08:42:41 UTC

Well, we tend to be egalitarian, I think especially Men Are Human tends that way

2019-01-04 08:43:01 UTC

the website I mean

2019-01-04 08:43:06 UTC

@asparkofpyrokravte I was about to say just that, but didn't. Lol

2019-01-04 08:43:58 UTC

That does entail some advocacy for women when warranted

2019-01-04 08:45:00 UTC

At very least agreeing with certain things put forth by others

2019-01-04 09:23:06 UTC

Absolutely. In fact, I always discribe my view as being about equally - but add that we focus on men currently because they are the ones with the problems.

2019-01-04 09:23:55 UTC

I would like equality, I'm defiantly not here to be subservient to men xD

2019-01-04 09:24:00 UTC

I have a book review coming up soon that will deconstruct an anti-female mra text too.

2019-01-04 09:24:32 UTC

@Abbysol I wouldn't have made you a mod if this was about subservience. XD

2019-01-04 09:25:12 UTC

you where a fool for giving power to waman! now my goal to take over the world is one step closer! xD

2019-01-04 09:25:32 UTC

Lol

2019-01-04 09:25:56 UTC

I'm sure most people would just call me token women to that, lol

2019-01-04 09:36:04 UTC

@Men Are Human i agree with @goodmod on it

2019-01-04 09:36:27 UTC

The logo we have is simpler and on point
